I have always been influenced by the truth of an image. Mary Ellen Mark's work captured a truth in the moment of capture that always spoke to me. This is why her work inspired me to be more authentic in most of my images with developing a relationship with what is in front of the lens to capture the subject's true self better. SO glad to have found this interview. Thank you Mark!

Very nice interview with two photographers that tells you photography doesn't have to be super razor sharp and perfect but instead, capturing the essence of the story of the subject, emotion as well as authenticity & sincerity. #MaryEllenMark #HelenaChristensen #PortraitPhotography

Cool. It's also not about the equipment per se, but if one has good eyes, that's all that is required....

Sorry, but for me ``Studio Quality Photography is FujiColor or KodakColor high-resolution and Ultra-High Contrast Portraits and and do ``NOT`` like any monochrome Black and White Photography and Grain visible or artifacts in Photographic Subjects``. The Photograhers in the Video Audio would ``FAIL`` given by above Objective Science Specifications!!!!!!!!!

Some of the below comments complained of the music in the video. I didn't notice it because I was so focused on what was being presented by the two photographers. Not condemning those who thought otherwise, but it just didn't distract from my enjoyment of the video. I have no complaints. This was very inspiring and encouraging. Appreciate you sharing this with us.

I just bought Prom and Twins off Amazon. I have been wanting copies for years, but finally did it after watching this episode. I'm just an ordinary small town photographer, but I never edit prom photos without thinking about Mary Ellen.

Wow truely inspirational, taking a photo for a specific purpose and not just taking photos for the sake of it. Thinking about composition etc without just snapping away hoping for good photo. Two inspirational ladies. Thank you

This was a wonderful episode. I've been in a bit of a rut lately only photographing clients and have needed a bit of a push to just strap on a 50mm and just wander about and interact with whomever on the street. Videos like this help light that fire for me to go make beautiful pictures for myself and not for a deadline or a critical eye. Just for passion. I hope there are many others out there that just got the same goosebumps. Have a wonderful time making images everyone. :)

This whole series is fantastic and I hope you will create more. The background information on the artist and images is immensely valuable. As a photographer, it is inspiring to get these insights. One more thing...in the world of photography where men have dominated, I'd like to ask that you please include more female photographers in your upcoming episodes. Thank you!

I guess from my perspective, I really wonder what these classic photographers from the past think of modern day KZbin photographers and how the modern mentality of post processing photos has affected the “here and now” creativity experienced by the photographer on the ground when pictures need to be captured as perfect as possible in camera. Please do a video on this photography topic. I personally would like to know what these great film photographers from the past say. Thanks.
