As far as laundry goes, everyone has a separate hamper and does their own laundry, including their bed clothes. I do the towels, pillows, throws, etc.

Obviously if they’re too small to do laundry (my youngest is 24, so it’s been awhile) then either myself or a sibling do it for them.

I hate dusting plants, so I put them in the shower and give them a nice water cleaning like nature does. Or sometimes I get the blowdryer (cold setting) like the wind and blow it off. Beats hand wiping 5,000 leaves. lol Whatever gets the job done.

I used to do the shower but I have too many plants for that now. Quicker to dust them than carry them all to the shower. 😂

I don't do resets, but I should. 🤔 I have started setting reminders for things like "change the furnace filter", and "clean the washer's lint trap".... And it's good to have those reminders...There's a better chance it'll get done now. 😉

I'm going to try this! 🙏 I noticed recently HOW MANY chores and other little things-to-do I try to remember all the time. And endless lists in my agenda also keep reminding me of them every day... Which makes my mind feel constantly cluttered and busy 🤯 and resentful (why do I have to be the one remembering all this in our household?!) A question though: a list like yours easily takes up the whole day, how do you free yourself up for that monthly or weekly? Does your family join in? Or do you consider it as a workday?

It's good that you adapted the routine to account for your energy level and got a more dreadful task out of the way first, making it seem much easier. I'm finding that I need to change the order of some tasks to account for the colder months and the fact that it gets darker earlier. For example, I used to be able to shower without turning on the light fairly late in the evening during the summer months but, when the clocks go back, I'll have to bump that up before dinner to avoid unnecessary power usage.

Oh yeah, changing seasons can impact routines. Better to adapt than to try force something that’s just not working well.

A while back I got rid of my ironing board because it took too much room . Instead, I folded a towel on the kitchen counter to iron. I loathe ironing so a few days ago I got rid of my iron and it felt so good LOL! If once in a while we have some wrinkled clothes well too bad so sad!!! Nobody in my family wants to iron so be it! As I was on a roll, I got rid of all kitchen gadgets, crockpot and dvd's. Your videos are always motivating and inspirational. ❤ Take care and cheers from Ontario Canada.❤🎃🍂🍁🧡

Great decision on decluttering the ironing! You might want to look into a handheld steamer - I just use that if there are too many wrinkles ;)

I feel like that about the “chicken processing day” for the cats. Lol. Perfectionism. Ugh. Like trying to get every bit of meat off the bones and trying to get it mushed and chopped up “just so.” Today I had one of my clearance roasters and I basically just separated the small/bottom parts from the main body and only did that. I think it’s much better than trying to do the whole thing all at once. Also just mushing as I go. And also doing it while I wait for my own food to finish heating up/cooking etc. Idk if I have “official” resets per se, but I think I already do it “unofficially.” I guess I just can’t yet deal with something as regimented as “this task on this day” etc. I started to think of it more like the trash. You only need to take it out when it’s full. And that wont usually be “on the clock.” I guess I just know myself better now. Reverse psychology seems to work better for me. Lol. It goes pretty well tho I think. I was always more stressed out with too much specific planning (such as these things weekly or monthly or those things on this day etc) and then it would kind of backfire on me. Idk if it was growing up with the militaristic tyrant type of abuse or me being more of a kind of independent free spirit or a bit of both. I just really loathe what feels like “restraints” to me tho. When I just focus on my own “flow” I feel and do better. I also feel like I’m getting to do it for myself and it’s rather like telling my former abusive taskmaster “no” so that just feels more empowering to me (and also I will be more likely to actually do more). Like I may list a few important things on a piece of paper and say “this year.” (Like HVAC filters etc). And I have the must do daily stuff of course. But that’s about it. Lol. I just find that all the other things iron themselves out as I go. Such as yeah scrub the tub Bcuz I see it’s getting a little hinky and I’m not bathing in that. That sort of thing. Yesterday for example. I started listing what all I got done and it was like 27 things. So I think that helps me “talk back” to my inner critic better when it tries to tell me that I’m not “working hard enough” etc. And I can just be like whatever. I call bs on that. I did PLENTY and that was enough for one day. lol. I have to push back on “what didn’t get done” Bcuz if I don’t, I’ll likely wind up in overwhelm most of the time. One thing at a time. One day at a time. It’s just too hard to always carry tmrw’s troubles today. I just push it all away and focus on what I notice the most for today only. Well that got really long lol. But I think it could at least be helpful for any other “free spirits” out there. Lol. It took me a long time and a lot of failures and frustrations tho to kind of arrive at this conclusion for myself (Bcuz yes. I notice everything that potentially needs doing in great detail but I now make a point to put blinders on with much of it and it keeps me a lot more sane and happier). In a way I guess it’s more like this is how I set boundaries with my own “to do lists.”

I totally get it. I find that I'm a rebellious type, even when I'm rebelling against myself! I don't like taking orders, and that includes from me. If somebody expects me to do x, I want to do anything but that. At 68, I'm not likely to change.
@goodenoughgirl8102
@goodenoughgirl8102 11 ай бұрын
@@edennis8578 Lol. IKR. I guess I don’t mind doing something for some things tho. It just depends on who is asking, why and how they ask me or what all is going on and if it makes sense to me. But “orders.” Freak he#% naw!!! Never. To hunger strike proportions and over my dead body. 😂😂 Yah. For me tho I used to think their leftover abuse voices in my head were my own but now I’m learning the diff. I def used to hear it all wrong tho in my head and basically sabotage myself out of rebellion. I do think also tho that there are certain personality types that just need to know why (make it make sense etc) and need to be allowed to work it out in their own ways for themselves. Everyone of course should be afforded respect etc but I think some just need a bit more leg room for a more independent learning process.
