I sit in bed with my cocoa and a tv program while pin curling my hair with Bobbi pins. Absolutely the easiest way to get a style for morning. I have thin longer hair and I tried dampening it but have found pinning up while dry is best for me. Never needed a setting lotion. Thank you for video.

Does your hair stay curly the next day? Is it uncomfortable to sleep?

It gives me hope that you mentioned that your hair is soft and hates being curled, as does mine! But in my opinion, you have some of the BEST vintage waves and hairstyles I've seen on KZbin! (not to discredit anyone else of course!!) Anyway, I got my haircut yesterday to really try to delve further into doing vintage hairstyles! My hair was originally around my mid back, and now it is upper chest level , so quite short for me (and unfortunately my hairstylist didn't exactly do as much of a U shaped as I wanted. It's more straight across, so I will wait for it to grow out a bit for having it cut again because I don't want it to be any shorter) But anyways I do tend to struggle with pin curling my hair (I did purchase the role and go, but I honestly struggle more with that than using my fingers 😭) But my ends always fall out and it's the most frustrating thing!!! Pin curling my hair definitely makes my hair actually stay curly/wavy, better than any heat styling I've ever done! And now especially with the shorter hairstyle, I'm very curious to see how long it will hold the curls and waves ! I'm still very new to this, but I aspire to get to your sort of level ! Your hair is seriously beautiful every time you do it , and I'd like mine to even be 75% as good 🤣♥︎ I felt a little bit more comfortable doing my first brush out today since having my haircut, knowing that shorter hair doesn't have the weight that longer hair does so I didn't think it would pull it out as easily ! My hair definitely looked extremely fluffy on the ends! Which is fine, I'm not mad at that, I just definitely need a lot more practice getting that beautiful under curved page boy style & working on sculpting the waves around my face. Thank you for all of the videos you have posted over the years on these styles, as I have been trying my best to watch them over and over to study how to do this properly !

I am so glad you're finding my tutorials helpful as you journey into vintage styling! The shorter your hair the easier it is to pin curl it. I hope you find it more manageable with your new cut! I think of the roll and go as if it’s a curling iron and the ends must be tucked in, tricky but you will get the hang of it. Have you watched Lauren Rennels hair tutorials? They are so helpful and she shows how to use the tool way better than I do. I also find it easier on second day styled hair since the ends are already curled it helps the hair stay around the roller - if your trying to get used to apply the tool. As you try new methods you’ll find what works for you ❤️

@@mrstdupuythank you! 😄 Yes it definitely takes practice I see! I'm trying my best to brush the ends under my hand so it stays curled under, it seems I haven't yet gotten the hang of that because it does still kind of fluff out everywhere, and of course if I brush it TOO much, most of the curls/waves brush out. So I'm trying to find that perfect middle ground that it has that really smooth page boy, but not too brushed out. Yes! Thank you for recommending her! I have been watching her videos as well! I also appreciate how she goes in depth and has great tutorials! 🙌🏻 I also agree, trying to re-roll 2nd or 3rd day hair it's definitely much easier on dry hair! Like you said because they still have the curl formed in it , and it's just way less slippery than wet hair 🤣 Thank you for your kindness and response! And I'm gonna keep working at getting the style down as best I can!!! 😁💖

I want to start by saying thank you so much for the wonderful tutorials you make. I have learned SO MUCH about how to do vintage hairstyling on myself from watching your channel and I just really appreciate the quality of your work. I'm curious as to how you protect your hairstyle in the shower between wash days? This is the thing that always seems to throw me off track from extending a set multiple days. A shower cap does not seem to completely protect my hair from getting damp! Once it gets even a little wet, it really starts to lose its shape and I can feel my roots getting oily. I am usually only able to keep a set for two days before I feel like must wash my hair again.
@mrstdupuy5 ай бұрын
I usually take baths unless I’m washing my hair and just secure it up but you may want to pincurl before you shower. That way the hair is secure and protected by your shower cap.

♥︎ hey girl, so sorry to bother you again, I don't mean to post twice on one video, but I do have a couple more questions if I may? 🙏🏻 I also live in FL, so I'm sure you're very familiar with the heat and humidity, + my hair being super straight, even though it is much shorter now, it doesn't seem to hold the under curl for the pageboy styles. It might hold it for like 30 minutes, but then it starts straightening out. I even tried to use a bunch of hairspray, I don't know if you have experienced this as well? Or if maybe your hair type holds the under curl better? Do I just need to load it up with hairspray? Or is there anything else I might be able to do to keep the curl? Next to that, I finally did purchase a Denman brush today! Because I was finding that even brushing my hair out, made the curls last significantly less time than not really brushing it out. So I figured the magic trick was the brush! I did a wave pattern set last night and I love how it came out and I really kind of only lightly brushed through my hair with the denman brush and then curled it under, and like I said I sprayed the crap out of it tonight with hairspray. The front is holding the curls decently, but the bottom not at all 😭 So I am open to any suggestions you may have ! 💖 And then I promise I'll stop asking questions 🤣🙏🏻🥹
@mrstdupuy2 ай бұрын
You might to make your sections smaller and more taught to ensure the curl has a stronger hold and even once brushed it should snap into the fold as you brush around your hand. I lived in Fl the last 10 years and the humidity will kill your curls. You can style with hairnets and take advantage of lower humidity days in the winter. Or wear a net when your outside and remove it when you get to whet you are going 😁

@@mrstdupuythank you!! 😄🙏🏻💖 I will try all of the above!! I want so badly to continue doing these styles and not get discouraged from my hair type being finicky! I appreciate you! ✨

Such a great video- do you have any recommendations for the ends of your hair and reducing frizz? When I brush out my wet set (after I’ve used pomade to pull some of the curls out with my hands) my ends are always so frizzy and dry looking- when regularly styled, they don’t seem to have this issue. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong? Thank you!
@mrstdupuy5 ай бұрын
Make sure your hair section is paper flat and smooth when rolling. Any friction can cause frizz. Play around with the amount of product your hair likes. It’s hard for me to tell without more information ☺️
@tiffytattoo24505 ай бұрын
Do you brush over your hand? I find it guides the hair better and reduces frizz. It's a bigger pouf when I brush without guide "mid air". Maybe the warmth and natural oil from the hand helps minimaly as well.
@tiffytattoo24505 ай бұрын
How do you release the curls? Roughly pulling out a spongeroller or curler can cause frizz as well. Gently unwind each curl might help :)
@notthecoolmom15 ай бұрын
@@tiffytattoo2450 I haven’t been brushing over my hand but I’ll definitely try it! I usually try to unwind my curls from the rollers otherwise they get tangled and it hurts.
@notthecoolmom15 ай бұрын
@@mrstdupuy thank you! I’ll be more diligent about smoothing when I roll them. It seems to be the section closest to my face (that part that you always do the cool S shape in)- the curls look great, but once I go to brush them out they just turn into a giant frizz ball! Definitely going to try some of your tips and the others suggested!

@@mrstdupuy oh yes, easy peasy too. Just rip up a old pillow case,2 in x 7 in. grab the hair, wrap the cloth around hair, tie it, then 1 in. from the end ,scoot it down. Then a slight tightening , then roll on up, tie again. Not hard to sleep on either.
