Kenya is so beautiful. I think you would love Mombasa. My heart is in the Uganda villages (it’s exactly like that one influence Angella Summer Namubira’s!😍) but I think Kenya and Rwanda are more Western developed and tourist friendly. I would visit all 3 if you have time! I’m a free spirit and solo traveler too, but i would definitely encourage you to connect with a trustworthy “host” beforehand to greet you, show you the lay of the land a bit, and be a home base or an anchor at least. You can probably get connected via a church or NGO partner in Florida. Also trying to learn a little Kiswahili goes a long way too. From the appearance, you will already look like a local 😊 I’m so happy you’re going to the motherland and I hope you love it as much as i did!!!💓

Emanuel was my tour guide in TZ, and he was so cool after that first tour, I arranged several customized tours, i.e.,...food tour, safari, nightlife, etc. But the day after the 1st city tour I took a bajaji (taxi) by myself to the mall and I happened to run into Emanuel & his wife and we chated up and i invited her to come on my next tour. Well, later that night, i got stuck there at the mall, so I called Emanuel, and he arranged for someone to come get me & make sure i got back to my hotel 25 mins away. So after that, Emanuel, his wife Jackie, and I hung out during my stay in TZ and did cool stuff. Oh, he also arranged a few things for me to do in Zanzibar (Island of TZ). They do tours of Dar Es Salaam & the northern parts like Kilimanjaro, Serengeti, & some southern parts etc. Emanuel also arranged for me to get my 24hr covid test which was required for me to fly to Dubai.
