When I restore shoes I've been too scared to touch rips in fabric but thought perhaps gluing/tacking another piece of fabric over it would suffice. Great job on fixing that ripped part on the back, but why didn’t you refresh the paint on the stitched part under the swoosh next to it? Looks kinda weird next to fresh painted collar of the sneaker.

Because that panel is a different material from the panel with the cracked material. The panel I fixed was a smooth thick leather almost like patent leather that had zero cracking on the material besides the huge cut. The cracked material on that bottom panel is a notorious issue on 85’s. It’s typically frowned upon to paint over that area on OG dunks because it’s not really a fix but more like a cheap cover up that doesn’t look factory. Looks more authentic to leave as is. Hope that explains it 🤙🏽

Have you ever tried ozonating your shoes? With such old shoes, it is advisable to remove bacteria, fungi and unpleasant odors before washing them. Before working with the shoe, I always ozone it for comfort during work and subsequent wearing. I love your vids Vick!
