My one problem with this game, was that scenarios A and B did not fit together like they did in the original. In the original, A and B felt like they were two different parts of the same story. In the remake, it felt like the two scenarios existed in alternate realities from one another. I really wish they could have figured out how to fix that.

I couldn’t help but feel like that is because they focused SO much effort on Leon A. Like that feels like a full and distinct game with unique elements; then Claire A feels like they tagged on some elements to make it different. I really wasn’t a big fan of the B scenarios in the remake. Not anything different, just seeing all of the same things and experiencing the same from a different approach and angle. I love the game, but it’s easy to see just where all of the money and time went.

The way the scenarios operate is so bizarre. I feel like it makes far less sense than the original game, which is strange because the series is far more lore heavy and focused on having a canon now as opposed to when the original game released. It’s like the truth is some weird amalgamation of elements of all four routes but considering how modern and cinematic the game’s presentation is, I would’ve thought that they were going to take this opportunity to provide a canon, definitive version of what happened to Leon and Claire in Racoon City.

Once I've beaten it, then I go for the higher or highest difficulty options. Because of that, I didn't experience any of the hindrances that you mention in the video, which made me simply love the game the first time I tried it. Then I played hardcore with the knowledge of beating the game once, and it turned into a whole different and more strategic experience for me. I was more well prepared, and the changes in how enemies interact with you and how durable they are were a welcome surprise and made it an interesting new experience. Overall, I had a continuously fun experience that changed just enough here and there to never make it boring.

I disagree. The RE1 Remake imo set the standard for how remakes of games should be handled, beyond just Resident Evil: They took what was already there and only added to, barely trimming any fat. Adding to the story and not messing up or simplifying it. In the Re2 Remake, I expected nearly all of the old rooms, puzzles, enemies to be there PLUS potentially new rooms, enemies, weapons, extra game modes.... If youre planning to remake a game, make it so it would be almost pointless to go back to the original other than nostalgia. Id rather play the original RE3 than the Remake, to be honest because of how much cut content there was between the two games.

@PeixeKing3 жыл бұрын
There isn't really a story to actually damage there; if anything, the fact that characters actually have expressions and decent voice acting made me care a little more about writing that was always bad. Also, seems like a lot of people remember the A and B scenarios in the original differently than me, because there's little difference between them, in terms of gameplay; all this hype about Mr. X in Leon's campaign, but you only encounter him maybe 5 minutes before the final boss fight, that's also nothing to write home about, like basically every classic RE boss fight. The remake took the actual gameplay content of the original's A and B scenarios and put them in a single campaign, while redesigning enemies to be an actual threat, and making some sequences longer. In the original, you had to play two separate campaigns to see Birkin and Mr. X; in the remake, they're in the same campaign, and there's more of both. There are other examples, but that's my point, basically.

The container will come fast enough to catch him before he acts, so you don't have to flash him to prolong the stun. Hell if you're feeling especially cheeky you can slap him with the container without shooting him at all, though this won't deal enough damage to end the fight quicker. The sherry segment is short and super easy to figure out, you'd have to be brain damaged to not notice Iron's search pattern, and waste 30+ mins on the segment.

I Loved RE2:Remake, but there were a few things I had to yell foul on. 1: There were less interactions with Leon and Claire than the Original. Yeah, they still separate, but they always took the time to talk to each other. They don't even have a walkie-talkie to respond on. 2: Mr. X. Not the character, (though many can agree he's a real pain in the ass) but a scene relating to him. In Claire's Scenario, Claire and Sherry are chased by Mr. X though an underground passage from the orphanage. Birkin appears and slashes Mr. X almost in half and when you reach the lab as Leon, he comes after him no worse for wear. (It was so confusing that fans thought there were two Mr. X's, but Kazunori Kadoi (the director) confirms that there is ONE Mr. X, confusing them more) 3. The Scenario's sometimes inter-lap with each other, other times not. This really hit a sore spot with me, especially playing the original game in preparation for it. The scenarios in the original had an interlocking story. The scenarios in the remake just seems like they just copy-and-pasted Scenario A with Scenario B with the exception of the beginning and the ending. That's not even getting into the plot-holes the remake causes. (Annette's double death anyone?)

Nah in the remake mr x actually stalks you through the map and isn’t just placed in certain areas. For me at least its scarier that those footsteps and occasional door open aren’t just sound effects and are actually him searching the map looking for you.

Instead, a not so fun boss fights, I feel more about the lack of boss fights. between Leon & Claire scenarios, half of the bosses pretty much the same. I have to agree about big crocodile should've been a proper boss fight, maybe even like something that lurks around the sewers. So maybe a crocodile boss fight is for Leon, similar to the lake monster in RE4. Meanwhile, add some good ol' Big Spiders for Claire, it's just such a classic "horror" animal imo. Make the spiders like Necromophs (dead space), showing up out of nowhere for 1 or 2 times in the sewers area. As for another boss fight, it would be Plant 43. I was really expecting that the big flower plant on the window gonna resist to be dead & become a boss fight. I think RE4 still overall has the best boss fights compilations, so many variations & different approaches/strategy.

I was hoping the alligator encounter would be handled in a similar way that the RE1 Remake handled the Neptune sharks. In the original RE1, the encounter with the three sharks was so fast and easy, since you could just run straight to the control room and instantly drain the water to make the sharks harmless. Plus, all the sharks were only as damaging as normal enemies. In the RE1 Remake, however, in the initial gauntlet to the control room had its own intense music, while the two smaller sharks attack like regular enemies and the big Mother Neptune can now periodically leap up from the depths to kill you in one bite. When you do get into the control room, the mother now tries to bash open the glass and nearly floods the whole room, prompting an additional puzzle with a time limit. Then, once the water is drained, you still have to get the key sitting dangerously close to the mother’s mouth, using one of three possible strategies. If the alligator in RE2 Remake was converted into its own multi-stage puzzle or gauntlet in a similar way (like maybe taking inspiration from Killer Croc in “Batman: Arkham Asylum” and saving the final run with the explosive barrel for the very end), then I would have been more than satisfied.

It's amazing the things the remake tricked my memory into believing were always there. It has a way of slotting directly into a vague memory from my tween years, obliterating the original memories when I can't tell the difference. Sewers are a tremendous upgrade, absolutely magnificent. The bosses are real assholes the first time around, but by the second run a lot smoother, especially if I actually managed to save my knife for them. I just love how replayable the game is.
@AliG2004 жыл бұрын
Late comment, but I also really loved that the remake also did the opposite too, tricked you into thinking that something was removed, in some instances .For example, putting the red jewels into a statue in the original RE2 had a licker drop through a glass ceiling, but in your first run of the remake, you expect it to happen when you enter the room with the weapon locker keycard and the scepter, but it doesnt. Then, in the second run, you enter the same room, probably not expecting anything, and then it finally happens. It subverts your expectations just enough to make you not expect it when they finally hit you with it.

I've played the game on Hardcore and beat it with Claire, I tried once and messed it up completely. Had no ammo. I came back to it with the Infinite Bullets Gun and Infinite Knife and tried to fight Birkin but lost. I replayed the game and thanks to Darkness I had much more ammo than before. I even made a Video. That's one thing which is good. I always store Ammo and just everything. I bank everything so I don't waste shit. I still suck and haven't played the game for Months but I might come back. I haven't played the Original and this is the First RE game I've played. But first saw RE7 and haven't seen RE8 yet except Overrated memes of Big Lady. Cool that, that game is in my Country. Not the City I was born in oh no but it's still there. (Aka I'm Romanian and I wasn't born in Bucharest and like 2 Hours away from Cluj-Napoca). Anyways. I might actually play the Originals instead. And use the Storage Strat to save ammo.

I've heard mixed opinions on how damage, staggering zombies, headshots and focusing your aim work in this game. But personally I'm quite happy that at least 1 triple A game is trying to reinvent how the player approaches combat and having him learn very different rules on how you have to deal with enemies instead of being another game in which you already know how pretty much everything is going to work and which approaches are the winning strategies. Can't really say if they succeeded at making it actually good since I've only played the 1-shot demo but I certainly appreciate the effort.
@h_espeliz33475 жыл бұрын
If you get that impression in your demo, then its excactly how it is in the full game. I had first mixed opinions on it but eventually i figured out they balanced it perfectly. As Superbunny pointed out, the game has one of the best strategic gameplay RE has ever got
@TheJadedJames5 жыл бұрын
My main frustration is that using an item is the only way out of a zombie grab and you have no way to meelee them then. Making the zombies extra resilient and focusing the action in dark/claustrophobic spaces was good. But it was slightly more frustrating to fight back than it needed to be.

@aolson11115 жыл бұрын
@@TheJadedJames The game would be absurdly easy if you could melee yourself out of any grab. The game gives you more than enough tools to deal with any situation. If there are zombies blocking a hall way, you can use a different route, you can kill them, you can stagger them and run past, or you can take a hit and use one of the many healing items, like in the original game. You can even bait Mr. X to move them in some situations.

Plus, the RE2 Remake already made it so that most zombies can keeping getting back up indefinitely, without a clear limit other than decapitation or burning. So essentially, it already is like the RE1 Remake, only the zombies in that game could only get up once (albeit in an enraged berserker state), as oppose to getting back up multiple times. So I think the RE2 Remake could have easily accommodated a Crimson Head mechanic to tie the two remakes even more closely together, if Capcom did not mind retconning the lore a tiny bit, so that Crimson Heads actually are the direct missing link between ordinary zombies and Lickers.

Leon gets a flamethrower that's about equally useful against the G blobs as Claire's Sparkshot.

The Sparkshot can stunlock the G monsters and kill them in one shot. I'd say that the Sparkshot is more effective for them than the Flamethrower. But the flamethrower is way better for every other enemy in the game, and is really good for crowd control, unlike the Sparkshot.

@@D_2_da_K87 Grenade launcher flame rounds are better against Ivys. I still think that Claire is the easy mode of RE2 remake, the grenade launcher kills lickers easily, the sparkshot is amazing against the g blobs, the basic pistol has the upgrade that makes it akin to a magnum and the machinegun just destroys bosses and you have enough ammo to end the last two birkins easily. Leons shotgun just cant compare to the grenade launcher against lickers, despite the fact that it can oneshot zombies, and his magnum isnt as good as the machinegun in utility and damage dealer against bosses.
