One major disappointment was that the Clock Tower that was in the og RE3 was not playable in remake. The Clock Tower was an iconic location in RE3 with puzzles. To not have it is a letdown.

@Phry3 I have absolutely zero problems with the length. It's that the game is so incredibly linear and scripted. The puzzles are painfully simple, it feels so dumbed down. The areas are too small and the enemies are a bit too easy to deal with. Not nearly as interesting as the ones in RE2 in terms of gameplay. And Nemesis? He was great! ... in the demo. No, seriously. The demo is the part of the game where Nemesis is present the most, the way he should be anyway. He's bigger. He can sprint. He can catch and pull you with his tentacle. His punches follow up. He can stun you with a roar. His grab is an instant kill. In every way he's superior to Mr X, except two: All of his encounters are scripted, and they are *way* too short. When he got the rocket launcher I was so happy he was getting an upgrade, but then it ended. Just like that. He doesn't chase you after that. They could have easily made more sequences where he stalks you, but instead they animated a bunch of cutscenes. Isn't that _more_ expensive than letting the player take the wheel? Edit: Ok, I tried Hardcore again, and it does feel a little better. Nemesis especially feels like Hardcore is his "normal" difficulty. He uppercutted me through a door 😂 This way it makes a little more sense to not have him hunt you so much, as it would make it too difficult and annoying, but I still think they should have squeezed in one more chase sequence, preferably one with his rocket launcher.

People were complaining how after the initial encounters with mr x became annoying rather scary cause he was easy to run away from but would just get in the way while you had to do a puzzle.. so I think they cut nemesis’s hunting sections for that reason and made it super intense for a shorter time.

Nemesis transformation was incredibly disappointing, to be honest. I mean, INCREDIBLY. We didn't see him enough in "normal" mode, where he was gazillion times more badass than he was in that licker like creature form. In that form, he kinda lost his character. I wouldn't mind a bit if Nemesis retained his normal form throughout the entire game.

Yeah, it sorta took me out of the game when he clearly had the upper-hand in multiple cut scenes to kill the protagonist - like full on fingers gripped around Jill's face contact - and then they have him stall. It makes you second guess if hes really competent or all that effective of a killing machine. But mostly its just cheap attempts to heighten the anxiety of the moment. There were probably better ways of depicting a struggle between him and Jill during the cinematics.

Love how you get to see what happened to Marvin and the 2 officers that you find dead in re2, graphics are beautiful and really enjoyed the first section where you have to escape town. Length of it made me sad because it ended so quickly If nemesis was a constant threat and didn’t just force you to progress it’d be so so much harder. The entire segment where you explored the interior of the clocktower, which many players thought offered a nice change of pace after the Raccoon City streets and could have looked neat in the new RE engine. 2.) There is no singleplayer bonus minigame akin to Mercenaries: Operation Mad Jackal, unless Capcom plans to release free DLC like Ghost Survivors in RE2 Remake. 3.) There is a reduced variety of boss creatures, even if the overall quantity of mandatory boss encounters are the same (since the Gravediggers and Nemesis actively chasing you in second half are both cut, seemingly in favor of Nemesis transforming earlier and fighting you more in those non-human forms). 4.) Exploration in general seems dumbed down, with far fewer puzzles, inability to backtrack to early city areas like Dario’s safe house, and a lack of live-selections allowing you to approach certain areas in branching paths (to be fair, though, at least the randomization mechanics in original are sort of replaced by new difficulty modes that rearrange items/enemies, plus there are new interactive cutscenes to serve some of the other purposes that the live-selection had in original, like making Jill use a vehicle to attack Nemesis). 5.) You no longer get to have two separate endings, and Capcom arguably went with the weaker of the two endings. *As far as changes go, where it depends more on personal preference, here are some examples:* 1.) In terms of basic enemies, the Drain Deimos, Sliding Worms, Infected Crows, and Giant Spiders are replaced with Lickers, Pale Heads, Parasite Zombies, and more unique Hunter Gammas. Plus, the Drain Deimos are radically redesigned. 2.) Carlos explores the RPD instead of Jill. 3.) The gun powder system for crafting handgun, shotgun, magnum, and three of the grenade rounds are now very different. Plus, the freeze rounds and enhanced handgun/shotgun ammo are cut, possibly in favor of more basic weapon upgrades. The mines are now an alternate grenade launcher ammo type, rather than ammo for a separate mine thrower gun. I think the reloading tool is now an optional bonus item you can put in your inventory to increase the amount of bullets you can craft from gunpowder, rather than a mandatory component of crafting. 4.) You enter the Umbrella facility through an underground passage in Hospital, rather than through the Raccoon Park. So the Hospital is larger while the Raccoon Park is smaller and now an optional side area.

@@DarkAttackYT Oh I agree with you totally on the Nemesis part and on Alien Isolation, that game scared the hell outta me before the Alien even appeared. What I was getting at is after a while Nemesis just felt more like a nuisance. Where as in RE2 I feel Mr. X had a much more threatening presence, that's why I compared him to the Xeno. He's constantly roaming, you can hear him and not see him which in horror I think is very effective, and he doesn't die until a cutscene in the game. I felt that with Mr. X there was a constant feeling of fear and dread, whereas with Nemesis it's like "bro get a life"😂😂

MagicJaycee I actually played RE2 for the first time just after commenting this, and platinumed it also just yesterday. And I have to say that I do understand the disappointment surrounding RE3. It’s lacking most of the story and the game doesn’t even have extra content, costumes, etc. You play it and that’s it. But with RE2 you can go back and play different scenarios, unlock costumes, and even unlock hidden survivor modes. Almost in every way, RE2 is better.

@@crimsonsky3440 Exactly! RE2 is a more horror game than RE3. What I like about RE2 the gore is very realistic and the zombies react to the environment when you put them down and MR. X is still more scarier than Nemesis. I always think of Nemesis as a Xenomorph alien in disguise nothing more. I got the Platinum in March 2019 and its way harder. Re3 I platinum it like 3 days after it got released. RE2 took me a month to platinum I'm not kidding, mind you. They also said that the team who made RE2 is different to the ones who made RE3. So I guess thats why. Let this be a lesson learned so that it will not happen again in future remakes.

Nemesis is a fookin BRUTE in this game and I think the reason why he only appears at specific times is because they wanted to make him viciously aggressive. Mr. X was slow and that’s how they could make him chase you the whole game. Nemesis WILL kill you fast and so they couldn’t have him chase you the whole game. IMO

Its a dead by daylight type multiplayer game where 4 players have to escape a zone and 1 is a mastermind who watches them through cameras and spawns traps and enemies and can directly control them too. It comes as a separate game along with the RE3. I didnt like it because of dodgy frame rates and very sloppy texture clipping. It all lacks the polish RE2 and 3 have. And theres RPG elements such as damage indicators.

It wishes it was dead by daylight. You can just drop random monsters straight on top of players, but most of the time they destroy any and all enemies you put against them. Even Mr X can get bullied by players, since they can stagger him easily, and they calculate damage and health more like an RPG, than a resident evil game. Where you hit them, and floating numbers show how much damage you did, but 2 Mr X punches aren't even enough to put someone in yellow. Honestly it's really bad. Would of been great if it was a free to play game, but with how RE3 feels short, and unfinished, it feels more like including it with RE3 only made re3's development suffer heavily. Also, you can pay real money for xp boosters.

It would have been great if you were able to play it for yourself in the beta, as shitty of a beta it was. I really like it personally. And since I played it quite a bit so far, I can say that if one side doesn't know the game well they will be stomped on easily. But a good Mastermind vs good survivors is a tough match. I also finished RE3 Remake, so the whole package is very worth it to me.

SPOILERS I thought everything about this game was incredible from a presentation standpoint. The graphics are GORGEOUS, Jill and Carlos look amazing, the voice acting is great (I specifically love the cut scene where Nicholai shoots that man in the garage, Jill’s reaction is awesome). But I don’t like how Nemesis doesn’t feel like a constant force to be reckoned with. At one point I straight up forgot he was in the game, which doesn’t do him or the concept of the game justice. Another thing that bothered me is that he doesn’t even get to kill Brad, or anyone other than Tyrell for that matter. He’s the STARS killer, and he only kills one guy, that works for Umbrella. He just didn’t feel like much of a threat, especially when he just turned into a Bloodborne boss wannabe for the second half of the game. It’s just so glaringly obvious they rushed this game to meet a deadline, and included Resistance to try to make up for a short ass campaign. But Resistance is very mediocre. I miss Mercenaries mode. There is so much in this game I love, but if they added 2 more zones, and maybe one more section where you play as Carlos, it would be much much better. I give it a 6/10. I was on the hype train for this game from the moment they announced the 2 remake, so I’m really bummed how this one turned out.

the game is paced kinda weirdly, too, feels like some sections have been cut and the rest of the game was awkwardly stitched together to cover it up. There's at least 2 moments in the game where you go directly for the boss with no gameplay levels in between. [spoliers] you take control of Jill after Carlos's RPD level, and it's straight to a Nemesis boss fight - they could've had a short section of gameplay on the waterway/park leading up to it. Same goes for the end of the game - you beat Nemesis stage 2, you go to a safe room, and you immediately fight the final boss - Nemesis stage 3. They could've had a section of corridors and zombies there as well (maybe the clock tower somehow?), it feels awkward jumping from one boss encounter to the other with nothing in between, especially when the game is this low on content. I feel like putting mercenaries in probably wouldn't be that much work, either - use maps from resistance, spawn some zombies randomly, get some basic rules of the encounters, and you're good. You wouldn't even need 10 playable characters at launch, get Jill, Carlos, Leon, Ada, and Clarie since they already got all the combat animations (just add the dash to RE2 characters), and maybe put some more characters and maps as DLC later on.

I think that one of the reasons this game feels so much shorter than RE 2 is that in this one you spent so much less time exploring/puzzle solving. In the last game, the RPD station was essentially one giant puzzle, wherein you had to solve several smaller puzzles to advance to the next one. And it kinda had a Dark Souls, labyrinthine vib to it. You got to know the station so well, and knew which routes where quicker and which were dangerous (I still have nightmares about the west corridor). And while I would say that this could count as padding, it is enjoyable padding. Slowly discovering and maping out the station was a slow burn joy. RE 3 by contrast does not have as much map-puzzles. It is much more direct: Go here, and go here. So I really liked this game, but I do wish they had of applied the whole RPD station scheme to the whole city. But I think that if you were to run through RE 2 already knowing where to go and exactly what to do you could probably get through it pretty quickly. Probably well within 7 hours actually. So I think RE 3 while shorter, it is more streamlined. Whether that is a good or a bad thing is up to you however.

Everyone says the game is short...but if you actually checked the length of the RE3 Remake and compared it to the ACTUAL length of the RE2 Remake OR the original RE3, they’re VERY SIMILAR IN LENGTH! The RE2 Remake can be completed in under 1 hour without cheating! This video is on KZbin and has the Capcom devs reacting to it. Even the original RE3 is short as hell but no ones bitching because it has many different “areas”. Well then THAT should be the complaint then, not length! And then there’s people who say that the RE2 Remake has multiple characters so it has more replay value. BS! Leon and Claire’s campaign are VERY similar minus the Sherry and Ada section not to mention there’s only 3 difficulty settings... in RE3 Remake at least there’s 5 difficulty settings and the later 2 difficulties actually increase the challenge immensely unlike the RE2 Remake while adding extra enemies and moving items around. Sure the RE2 Remake does this as well on the second run but it limits the gameplay with the lack of difficulty settings! All in all, I think it’s very similar in length and people just don’t notice! The RE2 Remake really only has 3 main areas to explore... the RPD, the sewers, and the lab. While the RE3 Remake has the city streets, the RPD, the sewers, the hospital and the lab too! That’s 2 extra areas and people complain about the RE3 Remake when the RE2 Remake has less overall areas to explore! Absolute nonsense.

But the hour-long run that you mentioned, are you sure it's not a speed run you are referring to because those things are supposed to be short... that's why they are called speed runs. Devs reacting to it sorta makes it even more obvious that it's impressive and not easily achievable. In terms of gameplay, adding difficult levels doesn't add on to the overall length of the game. It's extends your experience, sure. But length, I am not so sure about that. I don't think anyone's complaining about the areas to explore in RE3. Again, it's just the matter of how long you stay into the story and most of them felt it wasn't worth releasing it as a standalone game. They either released it too soon or removed some parts in order to release them later as DLCs. I don't know, man. I am not here to defend the game. The original RE3 was my favorite of the RE series, and I've really been enjoying this one as well. It's definitely short, but I'm also really having fun. I have to agree that if you aren't a huge RE3 fan, you should probably wait for a sale. I don't miss the clock tower map, however, as I have pretty severe arachnophobia, so taking out a level filled with giant realistic spiders is something I'm not going to lose any sleep over. I think if they had Mercenaries Mode from the original or Ghost Survivors from RE2: Remake, the criticism would be a lot less.

Loved the different nemesis forms My biggest complaint with this game is that yes its short my first play through was about 4 and a half hours and also icdid not agree with them cutting areas like the clock tower or the grave digger fight but appriciated the power station expansion as well as the hospital and lab expansion. I like how they encouraged replayability by offering the unlockable difficulty modes which were challenging but felt that they were lacking on costumes and new game plus items. Overall i really enjoyed playing it and icwould give this game an 8.5/10

I can definitely see both sides of the argument here. Personally I loved the hell out of this game and thought it was worth the $60 price tag on it. But from my stand point, I just finished 100% the achievements of this game which took me 5 playthroughs and around 20-25 hours of total game time. So I was able to get my fill of the game that justified the price for me. So for me it was worth it, but I also realize I am in the minority group for wanting to play through it over and over again for the achievements/trophies. @@cipur11 no. You unlock nightmare mode after you beat hardcore mode, and inferno mode after you beat nightmare mode. Aka, hard mode, harder mode, hardest mode. There's no stuff like survivors mode, and the only NG+ you really get, is points earned from achievements, that you can spend on buying Jill's RE1 outfit, unlimited Ammo handgun (that can't use the upgrades you get for the starter pistol), unlimited Ammo assault rifle (again, no upgrades), an unlimited Ammo bazooka, a weird gun that acts like an unlimited Ammo magnum, but only does damage if you hit a weak point, and has a 5 second charge after every shot, a fire knife, and Jill's original pistol, the samurai edge (again, no upgrades). You can also get 2 coins that increase hp regen, 2 coins that increase defense, 2 coins that increase damage, a book that increases the window to make perfect dodges, 4 extra inventory slots from the start (not allowed on Assisted) and the lockpick and bolt cutters from the start. Honestly, none of it is worth it. I always had shed loads of Ammo for all my guns, so infinite Ammo wasn't that useful, and unlike in Re2, where you could blow limbs off, and they kept coming, the zombies in RE3 die really easy. I've permanently killed them while aiming only at a limb. And to get everything in the store, you need to complete every trophy in the game. That means an S ranking in the hardest difficulty, playing an entire playthrough without ever opening the item box (so no unlimited Ammo weapons, no assault, defense, or regen coins, no perfect dodge book, and discarding items when you run out of space), playing an entire playthrough without healing more than once, etc etc etc. So by the time you get everything, you don't feel like playing the game anymore.

I'm not a professional reviewer so please, don't think you're not entitled to liking this game. This is all based on personal preferences. Graphics-wise, this game looks beautiful. Resident Evil 2 already did, and it seems like they somehow managed to polish their engine a lot more. The lighting is superb and the shadows are legit shadows instead of negative colors. The character design is outstanding and the details are well, very-detailed. Now, it's 2020, having good-graphics is the standard nowadays, so while yes, the game looked beautiful, there are other games with the same quality of graphics. Hopefully that makes sense. I still think however, that Nemesis was scarier while he was wearing all those trash bags that covered his face. Once his face was revealed, the fear and intrigue was lost. He felt like a cheap gimmick that CAPCOM used as clickbait to sell the game. He was severely underused and was just another enemy. I personally liked Carlos more than Jill. I can definitely see him as a protagonist in a future game or CGI movie. I enjoyed his sections a lot more than Jill's go-here, escape-from-Nemesis, go-here and escape-from-Nemesis again. Like you said, the game was incredibly linear. The magic of Resident Evil 2 Remake was that since Mr. X was following you around, and there were lickers in some hallways, you needed to strategize what route to take, and prioritize a task instead of running around guns-blazing. The map was big, it was open and there were multiple places to revisit or use as shortcut to get someplace else; this doesn't exist in RE3 other than the small main-area near the train-station. If I had to give a score to this game, it'll be an underwhelming 7 out of 10. For the sake of not boring you to death, I'll stop the review here. The game had amazing potential, but nothing was done with it.

Honestly it felt incomplete. Like there's so many moments where you can see they had more planned, but then removed it. Like where the hell did Marvin go? They brush it off with a "who cares" but the only route he could of taken, was the library. The shutters to the left and right are down, and all the doors except the doors to the office and library are barricaded from out side. He couldn't of gone to the office where we find him in the original, as we would of seen him when we went there, so he could of only been in the library, but the key for the library, is on the 3rd floor. So he either locked himself in the library, then somehow managed to get past all the zombies while injured, to stash the key where we found it in re2, then returned to the lobby, or he had a backup key he never gave to Leon or Claire. It makes absolutely no sense, so it's obvious they cut a scene from that section. They also never explain how the hole in the 3rd floor was created, and the way T foows Carlos to the stars office even though the path was blocked by steam you'd need to turn off in re2, made very little sense. Then there's the parasite system they introduced in the substation, that was never brought up again. Or how about how every enemy introduced, just felt like a demonstration. Like they introduced a Nemisis that chases you, but only for a few minutes, then clever, sneaky, baiting, infecting bug monsters, but only for a few minutes, then Gamma Hunters, for a few minutes, regular Hunters, for a few minutes, pale heads, for a few minutes, and only 4 dogs and 2 lickers in the entire game. Then there's all the places they left out of the original game, or the serious lack of real puzzles, or decent unlocked weapons. "yay I have an infinite Ammo handgun, infinite Ammo rifle, and RAI-DEN that acts like a infinite Ammo magnum, but only on weak spots. .... Except I already had a better handgun, a better rifle, and a better magnum, and enough bullets to build a new Racoon City out of the casings " I'm glad they remade RE3, but I wish they put even half the effort into this remake, as they did to the re2 remake. It should of been a red flag, when all we were hearing about the remake coming up to the release, was all the stuff that won't be in the game.

The game is good, but I have a few complaints: -It's kind of easy. They are extremely generous on health and ammo compared to RE2 -Not much puzzle solving -Lack of replayability/alternate routes or paths you can take -The transitions between Jill and Carlos really effected the pacing. They should have just had their own separate campaigns -Not enough Nemesis. He only shows up in scripted fights -Nemesis has MULTIPLE opportunities to kill Jill, but for whatever reason never does -The game is definitely short -Lack of skins. Where are the skins from the original RE3? Why not give us RE5 Jill which was highly requested? -No Mercenaries mode, or a special similar mode to keep your attention after beating the campaign

Correction: Mr. X's appearances are actually also scripted like Nemesis. The difference is you can hear Mr. X a mile away, he's slow, and has no way seeing you thru walls. This tricks you into thinking he was always been there trying to look for you. Nemesis on the other hand knows exactly your position as soon as he appears with or without walls, he can leap and dash to cut your route, and can stealth hunt you until he's in your face. Im not saying one is better than the other but Mr. X's capabilities that translated to gameplay worked better for suspense and tricking you he's a random encounter. Nemesis's system forces you to face him asap and decide whether to fight or run(action-focused).

King Cobra Mr X is actually always roaming around. Someone hacked the game and put the camera on mr x when you’re not looking at him and he’s constantly surveying. When you get the lever for the bookcase he does teleport over to meet you in that green clover door room

Not actually true. Mr. X has a few scripted sequences where he spawns outside a room with a key item, but all other times throughout REmake 2 he is consistently roaming around the RPD and following your footsteps, gunshots, and confrontations with other enemies. Nemesis is a straight downgrade from Mr. X, and they were even claiming that they made him more advanced after using Mr. X as a prototype, which is clearly bullshit. Nemesis is nothing but scripted linear sequences and boss fights in this remake, when in the original the city streets were much larger and more open and you had the choice to go to 3-4 major areas in different orders, and his encounters were even different depending on which path you took first.

I was watching my friend play it on live stream and when he got to the lab, I said "do you know when it's over" and I don't know if he saw the comment, but I definitely felt like it was being wrapped up. I spoke to him on Discord last night and he told me it took him like 7 or 8 hours to complete the game and then he did another shot at it to see how long he could play it in one sitting and he ended up finishing it in 3 hours or so. He paid $90AUD, that's insane. RE3 looks nice and shiny, but I would not pay full retail price for it. Especially when money is very tight right now.

Eh, I wouldn't read into it too much. Death Stranding is a huge game, Jeremy isn't a dedicated gaming channel so he probably hasn't played through it yet (because it can be a little dull during the opening areas of the game) and more importantly that game is long. Like 80 hours long. I think the last long game he reviewed was Breath of the Wild? Point is, he's more into smaller more digestible games like Doom, Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, or Last of Us. Kind of shows the big issue when all games try to be 100 hours long.

It feels so weird that they just cut out the so many of the sets/places from original game. I know that it's a remake and everything...but Jill didn't meet up with the Umbrella operatives until a good chunk into the story, not when it first starts. Plus I personally prefer Brad's original death, since not only did that serve as the introduction for Nemesis, but his death was way more gruesome as well. And the Infamous line of "You want S.T.A.R.S? I'll give you S.T.A.R.S!" Doesn't have nearly the same impact or context that it did in the original.

The game was pretty good but it started going back to action and too many cut scenes already. Not to mention the physics felt cheap compared to the 2 remake. Limbs couldn’t be shot off. This game should have been better graphically than 2 in every way but it wasn’t. I don’t mind that some areas were cut. What bothered me is that capcom is already going back to action. The game did not feel scary at all compared to 2. I could also kill every enemy with no problem and never run out of ammo. It was a decent game but not nearly as good as 2. You can tell they put a lot more care into 2.
