The modern Masterpiece is upon us, Metascore of 95. The Dualsense controller implementation was phenomenal in re2 remake and re 8. It made the PS5 version the optimal version to play, which will also be the case with Resident Evil 4 remake.

Best 3rd person survival horror game ever! 7 hours in, stellar gameplay and atmosphere. In the original, the sky was gray until a few hours in. Now, you see the sunlight change over time. I love those details. This is a true masterpiece; Capcom at their best. I'm more confident than ever about a Code : Veronica remake. The buzz will be greater after this one and I don't think they'll revisit the first game again. I'm primed for Silent Hill 2! I must calm down a little, I haven't completed my first playthrough of RE4! Best era for 3rd person horror games! We might not see that again for years!

@@punishedhek7495 recently they've been great, but Capcom's track record is not full proof - remember resi 6? And the re3 remake was fine, but could have been a bit better. Also resi 4 is the holy grail of the franchise, so to remake a game that didn't obviously need a remake raised a few eyebrows. I was worried they were going to make it too dark and serious, but it looks like they've kept the campy tone of the original, whilst improving the gameplay. Now it seems like all my doubts have been proven false, and I can't wait to play the game. But I hope you can understand my original thoughts towards it.

The original was not the PS2 version, it was first released on the GameCube. The PS2 version was inferior with a worse resolution that made the graphics look muddy. Also it’s not just a PS5 remake. Quit being a Sony fan boy

Glad to hear it mostly takes place at night. Despite being a good game, RE 8 just didn’t to it for me in terms of horror besides the very brief Beneviento house part. I know horror is just one of the many parts that make up an RE game but for a horror fanatic like me and others, it’s kinda the main thing I’m looking for… everything else is secondary. Looks like they nailed a good balance with RE4 Remake 🙂

Dualshockers review excerpts ...Resident Evil 4 Remake is far from the jaw-dropping reimagining we all hoped for it. It's fine - overly dour, at times monotonous, other times feeling even more like an action-game than the original, but perfectly serviceable. Except "Serviceable" and "Resident Evil 4" shouldn't even live within a hundred yards of each other. This feels less like a warranted remake, and more of an encore victory lap of the last two Resident Evil remakes. Except even by contrast to those that came before, Resident Evil 4 Remake is oddly lacking in the enthusiasm that the original is known for. The Evil Dead-esque, brooding yet comedic horror is gone, and in its place is a self-serious plot so lacking in someone to care about that I can't tell whether to blame the acting or the direction, because the writing is perfectly competent.

Two things. One - why does the Push Square website always try to ignore the existence of the PS4 version ? Check out the review on the site. PS5 links aplenty. But not PS4. How about a review for PS4 owners ? Or is it easier to ignore a large chunk of your readership. Two - This title was on GameCube first and was better on that format versus PS2. Better graphics and controls on GameCube

the parry isn't 100% new tbh, in the og if you timed it right you could parry thrown objects from the villagers with it, but they expanded its usage to basically everything else

Wasnt really a parry in that case it was collison detection because the knife range hitbox is bigger then it looks. Thrown objects had collison because you were able to shoot them out the air so they registered anything hitting them

How much of the original levels are still intact? Did they cut levels? What about Separate Ways, is it also in the game like before? These are the questions that I really want answered, why is no review talking about this? Is the remake really deserving of a buy if they pull the same shit like in RE3R and cut out major parts of the game? Also the game originally released on GameCube, not on PS2. PS2 version came after "exclusive" GC release.

@@thebuddah1253 yeah "IT" is no longer in the game and I find it funny that there are some reviewers saying that they are glad it was not in the game yet they are ok with the Mike section like common. It's really sad I actually really loved "IT" he was one of the most unique looking bosses and had a really unique encounter that being a run a way maze into a boss fight so unfortunate.

Also the other modes are fucking planned dlc. So done with that shit. I'll wait for a sale to get whatever dlc is added later.
