What I find interesting is this: Zombies don't attack other zombies, or mutants, or BOWs, but they will attack someone who was infected but still retains their humanity. The zombies attacked Simmons. So, even to the very end, Simmons still retained a small measure of his "humanity", as sick and twisted as he might have been. In spite of multiple impossibly agonizing transformations, he still retained his sense of self to the very end.

The only way he had any chance of getting away consequence-free would be to kill anyone with any knowledge of his involvement and destroy any evidence of his wrongdoing, something that even with his powers and influence was effectively impossible. Even if he succeeded, he'd still be infected with a bioweapon with no cure. Or what? Turn himself in and be prosecuted for his many, many crimes and getting the death penalty? From the moment of his infection onwards, this was all his swansong, his last dance with the reaper. He was dead and doomed, even if he didn't realize it.

It’s really weird that the main boss has the ability to absorb zombies, but then also ignite them and cause them to turn into metallic, shifting plates like a Michael Bay film. The reason I say perfected is that while the earlier viruses could cause mutation and rapid growth, they wernt nearly as well-formed as the vast varieties of specialized mutation the C-virus can pull off. It even seems to play a symbiotic role with some of its victims, with mutation that directly respond to harmful stimuli towards the host body, such as hardening. In Simmons most of all, since he seemingly has concious control of the morphological changes.

It’s interesting to think about. Simmons strive for and was obsessed with order. Carla grew to hate him and became obsessed with chaos. Carla engineered a C-Virus strain that would cause the host to become living chaos, constantly transforming into monstrous forms and back, while being unable to die AND retaining their humanity to witness their world order crumble. This strain of Enhanced C, I believe, was engineered VERY deliberately, to make Simmons suffer for as long and aware as possible in a way that was unique to him.

Yeah the C-Virus basically has three popular viruses already in it and you can see each one in the BOWs created by it: the DNA mutation factor of the t-Virus, t-Veronica, and G. The t-Virus is clear in the J’avo and Ustanak (humanoid supersoldiers/Tyrants essentially), t-Veronica (most mutations in J’avo are insectoid, coming from arthropod genes in t-Veronica, and the fire blood qualities qualities when C-Mutants disintegrate are from this as well), and the G-Virus (mutation in response to injury causing V-ACT, and the reproductive effects of the Rasklapanje).
