nah, you have to travel half world, fight 4 apocalyptic monsters to get 4 individual numbers that are for a combination lock, then make your way to the safe which is guarded by another apocalyptic monster, use the numbers to open the safe to get human hair strand so you can tie it to the end of a hook you found, then go hand it to a woman, who has longer hair than the strand, and have her use it to get the key out of the drain while you guard... WHILE there's also a timer.

if you have the book and then inspect the ‘five guests murdered’ msg on the attic wall, you hear a little girl laughing. if you then go in your inventory and look at the book, it has the first of several clues that appear one at a time, each appearing when you point the combined hand /finger at certain objects around the house, the 2nd clue is if you point the dummy finger/hand at the book case under the clock and your controller then vibrates. you can initiate the first clue before you are infected but i believe the other ones require you to be infected. you can get infected just by being hit once by the molded monster. and in the true ending you can’t be infected.

Spoilers: The hand/finger combo pointed at 5 key locations (Vibration/Creepy Noise) will put notes in the book after you get it. All 5 will opening the attic room (Door will get bloody hand prints) and you get a GOLD COIN. I heard it carries over to the main game from the demo save file. I don't know all the locations but 3 are... 1. above the attic bed 2. pot of spoiled food 3. mirror on first floor by hanging voodoo dolls 4 & 5??? check other vids This game is so old school RE. I am getting such a good vibe from this game.

Resident Evil 7 is the perfect social experiment of people accepting or refusing change. So much hate came from it not immediately being a zombie shooter game, to there seemingly being nothing linking this to the other games. They brought back horror to RE They buried DMC remake They brought back Megaman through Smash Bros. They will not re-release SFV and all content is free through in-game currency (even though yes real life currency is an option) They revived MvC when asked They tried to revive DarkStalkers but the remake tanked. People sure love to complain about nothing. If the brightness “ruins the experience” or “makes it less scary” for you, then go watch a gameplay upload and not a walkthrough. The uploader recorded on max brightness to ensure viewers get the help they want by seeing and understanding clearly what to do.

@@ultrafinestThat and also I believe the ambience feels more dense than in the main game. The high contrast between the darkness from inside the house to the intense light that comes from the windows makes the place feel really unnatural, and also the added gore and blood (specially in the back door room and the bath) makes the environment feel a lot more hostile. The lack of music and the constant sounds around the guest house help a lot too. Overall I feel the ambience is way better done on the demo, the main game does a really good job too don’t get me wrong, but playing the demo nowadays still makes me feel uneasy

We don't know yet, but i'm betting money on the Bakers either being former Umbrella subjects (from the picture next to the telephone) or former Umbrella employees who happened to steal some experimental crap when the company dissolved. It's in the same world as the previous games, though, otherwise it wouldn't be Resident Evil *7*.

Derptron459 Andre states that they weren't crazy hillbillies, just out on their own. So I hypothesize that they were experimented on, and Umbrella kept tabs on them (hence the picture of the heli and on the back written "Are they watching us?").

@@Catdogomeow It's a soft reboot. Basically they are starting over with a clean slate, so that you don't need to have played the previous games to enjoy it. RE7 still includes references to past events, so it's not erasing what happened in RE 1-6, but the story in this one is self contained.
