This Jack killing him feels so much like a retcon. Because why strap a corpse to a chair at the family table? Yes fans speculated that Ethan was infected with The Mold but I don't think it was ever flat out stated in the game. Later in RE7 you can hear Jack speak to himself in frustration about how Evelyn is going to replace him as her father. So Jack was trying his best to kill Ethan so that wouldn't happen. I want to say the only reason The Mold plot came back because it would've felt weird for Ethan to be in a original story with a original virus infecting people and turning them into monsters. I mean the trailer had werewolves and vampire ladies. That's huge difference to what he fought in RE7. Especially when you add the location he's in.

Zoe reattaching it with staples was brow raising, but Ethan assumed it was just that easy. Never questioning his infection since he never felt any different.

Ok so basically that stomp to the face jack gave ethan didnt KO'd him it killed him. Since thats really the only time besides severing ethans leg wgere jack got one over him. But in that case does that mean ethan was always infected? And it was just laying dormant? But then when was he infected he couldnt have been born with it? It always kinda bothered me how ethan could just walk off injures like getting stabbed, bitten, and even loseing limbs and be fine like nothing happened i mean seriously he just pours on some juice on a bloody stump and he good to go? If he even gets stabbed in the chest by dimitrescu and still fights her without it hindering him in the slightest i was like yeah something besides plot armour has to be going on. It is indeed very strange, not a lot of re characters suffers true lethal damage(apparently falling in to oblivion is not lethal damage in re lol) like headshot, chest piercing and can still survive, when you took damage in game and heal, it can be explained by game mechanics, like how in many re games you will be bitten by zombies, but you just aren't infected, is because is in the game, not in the cutscenes or cg. If a character is hurt in cg, they are actually hurt and the plot will have to respond to it by explaining how you have to retrieve a cure or something. But in Ethan case, he should literally be a pile of minced meat by now, even only counting the damage he took in the cutscenes. I had a theory that Ethan is a Wesker child, some sort of enhanced human, but never took it seriously.

Okay but Ethan has been through A LOT in like 3-4 Years. In RE7: - Hand Chopped Off then Stapled back together - Leg cut off then healed together -Been stabbed, cut, hit, etc. multiple times and barely felt it In RE8: - Ring and Pinky finger? GONE -Right hand? Cut off but healed together - Hooks through hands - Stabbed, Fallen from incredible heights - Shot at, Hit from heavy weapons, even survived a Giant fetus monster, dolls, fish people, werewolves, etc. But I got a bone to pick with Capcom. Because knowing he sacrificed himself at the end, couldn’t you atleast given us the chance to see his face? Like these last 4 years we never got to see his face in the game AT ALL. Could’ve sent him off better if this was the last time we would see him. ALSO: you gave us a character we’ve grown to like then you killed him off in his second appearance? This is suffering from “TLOU PT2 Disorder” where we see a fan-favorite we loved or grew to like then you just kill them off like it’s nothing.

It is indeed very strange, not a lot of re characters suffers true lethal damage(apparently falling in to oblivion is not lethal damage in re lol) like headshot, chest piercing and can still survive, when you took damage in game and heal, it can be explained by game mechanics, like how in many re games you will be bitten by zombies, but you just aren't infected, is because is in the game, not in the cutscenes or cg. If a character is hurt in cg, they are actually hurt and the plot will have to respond to it by explaining how you have to retrieve a cure or something. But in Ethan case, he should literally be a pile of minced meat by now, even only counting the damage he took in the cutscenes. I had a theory that Ethan is a Wesker child, some sort of enhanced human, but never took it seriously.

Actually no. The reason why every character doesn't instantly get infected cause the characters you play with are all apart of the 10% of those whos immune system can fight it off for a long periods of time. Dormant even. It's apart of the game lore, hence why you have a few survivors then none, besides our main characters. Look into it if you need to but it's def not due to game mechanics or plot armor.

@@Nephilim27 that's exactly my point, if a character is bite inside a cutscene, they have to retrieve medicine for that, or the character needs to be immune to the virus(like you mentioned, some of them are the lucky few) I know some of the characters are somewhat immune to virus, like sherry Birkin and jack, but there are characters like Jill, who is not so immune, when she got bite to halfdeath in-game, you just use game mechanic, like a normal bandage, portion of sort, you just heal back up, but when a bite happens in a cutscene, Jill will have to be treated by some real vaccine (this action will happen in the plot) to heal from it.

@@user-fj9cr7mu7oI understand that but no one's immune. In the game, 10% of the human population is harder to get 100% Infected. The rest, instantly change no matter what. Every character we play with, has this 10%. Even Jill. The reason why when Jill got infected and almost turned when she got stung, was cause the T virus Nemesis carried is a lot more potent then the regular one. Think of it as a last resort attack if Nemesis can't properly kill its intended target. If you follow the lore, you'd know this.

@Bs YeeTer I’m actually sure it’s because Miranda removed his heart in their first fight. Ethan can’t regrow body parts, he just has healing powers. That’s why his 2 fingers on his left hand never grew back throughout the game, but his right hand healed because he put it back together. I’m guessing that his body was keeping him alive as long as possible without his heart, but in the end his body gave up.

This was actually a great plot twist, often in games the playable character survives injuries that would kill/cripple them without much explanation so we suspend our disbelief, and when in re7 Ethan reattaches his arm or leg we think “ok this happened” and move on with the game, I love how the game toys with this disbelief and actually explains why the main character is so resistant

it’s explained in the files: there’s different stages in the infection and he was only at stage 2. he was still in control of himself. being able to be mind controlled comes later in the infection process

This is a very odd thing to see RE confirm Ethan's recovery, but not in a bad way, just weird and a bit confusing, I mean I knew he was infected bc of his sudden connection with Evelyn but I thought the infection had started when he got caught after Mia and he got separated on the ship, bc the mold consumed him. It was stated she appears once she infected you with the Mold but I thought Ethan had 'special privileges' since he is the main protagonist who isn't allowed to die lol But it didn't make sense with his hand being stapled together or him seeing Evelyn. That could be chalked up as 'being part of the gameplay' but that felt cheap and made little to no sense to just throw that in. For a game that lets their protagonist get bitten multiple times and not turn, and punch a boulder, AND defy the laws of physics in RE6, it feels kind of cheated in a way that RE actually makes sense of a death by Jack curbstomping you to death. Idk it just feels... stupid?? Confusing?? I just don't know anymore.

To answer your questions it takes time for someone to become controlled when they're infected mentioned in a lot of the files in seven although the daughter's DLC they automatically turn but then act like nothing has ever happened anything that some people have episodes of being controlled in the beginning but then it stops, although after a while they did get fully control except for Zoe which she's been infected for 3 years and she hasn't been turn fucking bad shit insane. So I'm guessing some people are able to withstand it for a while? and to answer your question about the people turning to dust thing when Evelyn is dead that is not the case seeing how in the DLCs that's it's confirmed that some of the infected survive even Jack and Lucas. So it's not too far of a stretch to say that Ethan had a good couple of years even after Evelyn infected him.

Ok, so Ethan being a reincarnated mold creature does explain why he could reattach severed limbs and take FATAL blows repeatedly and live. Here's a problem. What about OTHER Resident Evil protagonists and villains/antagonists? Because we've seen THEM take their share of physical trauma and they lived. And, as far as the lore goes, none of them: Chris, Jill, Leon, Rebecca, Billy Coen and so many more were infected with any of the viruses in the other games. So how are THEY able to withstand lethal attacks. By this game's logic, some of those characters should be dead too...

I get he’s infected but if Jacks stomp on his head killed him then how would he continue living and even be able to get to where he is now. Ok long story short, Ethan essentially became a Molded. When Jack stomped his head in, he died and soon the E-Virus took over but for some reason, Ethan was able to keep his sanity and conscience so he was able to stay human while keeping all of the benefits that the Molded have. If I had to guess why Ethan was able to remain himself, it's either his will to save Mia was that strong, or Jack caused some Brain Damage that prevented Eveline from taking full control.
