Outbreak File 2 was the first RE game I ever played. It was interesting because they weren’t ex military badasses like Chris and Jill, they were just normal people in the wrong place at the wrong time and I was entering the horror with them.

It wasn't until I read this I realized how many protags are actual agents. Like BSAA, STARs, etc Leon was just a cop (at first, at least), Ethan is just a systems engineer, and...those are pretty much all for the main series games. Its a whole lotta alphabet boys beyond that.

Outbreak is the most down-to-earth story RE ever had. Just bunches of regular people try to survive the apocalypse and they might as well die trying. The song captures every mission perfectly. At the start, they didn't even realize what's about to happen, what's lurking underneath them until it's too late. They faced the doom and survived which gives them hope but as they proceed, they see how devastating the whole situation is and they are not likely to make it. They are either keep fighting hopelessly or meet a tragic end...

This game deserves to be revisited with today's technology updates and fixes from the mishaps the original had. I think what made it struggle is the painful loading times and the very limited communications. With ps5 power, the loading times are now a thing in the past and as for communication, now a whole lot more emotes can be added. As for mics, I know many will play without using it. Mainly friends will use party chat but that's up to the players.

This is equal parts tragedy, hopelessness, hope and mystery in one tune, especially towards the end. Which I suppose represents the Raccoon City Incident well. A tragedy where most survivors were hopeless and likely barricaded in their homes or wherever was safe. Other survivors (like the J’s Bar eight) having the hope to make it through and ultimately uncovering some of the mystery as to what caused the disaster. I truly hope they remake Outbreak. Take all the scenarios from both entries and turn it into a cohesive story. When we play 2 and 3, we’re already well into the outbreak and most are dead or undead, whereas this game shows a more gradual path to Raccoon City becoming the city of the dead it was doomed to be. It felt alive, especially in the Outbreak, Hellfire and Wild Things scenarios where the police, fire department and army were working to save a city not quite lost.

@@White927 To be honest Resident evil 4 was not that bad it still kept the fear factor and resources kinda scarce depending if you were managing carefully while you are venturing to the unknowns. As for Resident evil 5 and 6 are the moment that the franchise started to fall out the window in my opinion since they started cramming in way too many action moments which removes the helplessness and a Ai partner system and it goes the same for the later franchise. It is another reason I do not have to much high hopes for the next Resident evil game Capcom makes these days for example this may not be canon but RE: Verse which now it feels like Capcom is trying to compete with other company's such as Call of duty PVP modes or so forth in a not good direction...

i disagree. This song is melancholic and very intriguing. The same notes go in various variations, giving perspective of something in movement, something intensifying. This fits perfect for the infection subject of an outbreak, since contagion goes spreading even further. In case of Bakers, contagion wasn't spreading, since Eveline is a subject that wants attention, and stay put with her "family". She is not the outbreak type of subject. As the arquives says, she was created for war, to be thrown on the enemy lines to control the enemy. The feeling of movement can be nicely shown too on Elgar concerto (link below). This is one of the mighty 3! The 3 games that i enjoyed the most. EverQuest Online Adventures, Socom 2, and Outbreak files 1 and 2!
