I feel the same way. I jumped so much during the dollhouse bit last week. I love the atmosphere of the games and I actually like horror movies, but I can't handle horror too well when it comes to playing a video game. Bloodborne is an exception since it's Lovecraftian and I'm fine with eldritch horror.

I’m also not a fan of horror but if I’m being honest the resident evil games aren’t even that scary. I’ve played 23678 and both revelations and the only time I was ever legitimately scared was the doll house in 8. Other than that they’ve been pretty fun and felt much more like action adventure games.

As I commented in their first RE8 Let's Play, I am pretty sure Andy already finished the game and is just pretending. Yet the way he misses a lot of stuff and doesn't know you can turn off the weapon charms in the menu, does make me doubt a bit. Then again, considering how busy they all are, it wouldn't be too out of the ordinary for them to forget stuff like that. However the biggest case for this not being his first play-through is the fact that the achievements didn't appear.

I definitely think this was his first playthrough, regardless of when it happened. His reaction to that fetus monster last time felt 100% genuine.

It really doesn't matter in the end because it's "just" a playthrough but there's no need for them to pretend IMO.

You can sell the samurai edge to the Duke and biu it back for the same amount if you want it later so you don't have to have it take up inventory space. Also, don't forget to backtrack and re-explore earlier areas (especially around the village) for changes and new things being unlocked after every major event and new key item.

The dollhouse has been the most Resident Evil bit of the game aside from the village. The castle reminds me of Cainhurst and now this bit reminds me of the fishing hamlet in Bloodborne as well. It's like the devs all read some Lovecraft and played some Bloodborne to get inspiration to make the series even stranger.

What? The Dollhouse was the least Resident Evil section of the whole game. I mean, Ethan had no weapons, was haunted by ghosts, and everything was borderline PT. That's the opposite of Resident Evil. The Castle section was the bit that felt most like Resident Evil to me, so far. There were zombies, a few doors locked with special keys, and a Tyrant like enemy chasing you the whole way. That's Resident Evil

Fun fact this character is derived from the novel The Island of Doctor Moreau, a mad scientist who experiments on living things (Hint to Cadou). Honestly that's a problem with a lot of AAA video games and its just a matter of writing. In this case they could have had Moreau place Roses arms someplace obvious but very out of the way, like a trophy. Ethan has to do a lot of winding in and out of his potential sight, almost "getting caught." And then when he gets Roses Arms Moreau is genuinely surprised maybe because Ethan came out of an unexpected window, then says the line about being foolish and already blocking off the exit _as Ethan runs off._ No standing around posturing. Just grab, and go as the reveal happens.
