I can’t believe you put all that dirt on the drive way. Some of that dirt would have escaped and gone into the drive way

Hello, we have a BIG patch of JKW, at least 50m2,growing on our neighbors lot, it's a close as 1-2m from our fence. It's been there for +10 years and had been covered in tarpes about 10 years ago but has started growing again. It was in a shaded area but we didn't know and started cutting trees and bushes last year before we noticed it. The JKW got exponentially bigger and thicker this year because of the light exposure. We can't treat it because it's not on our land. Would you recommend digging in a root barrier and maybe excavating our property? I going crazy standing around doing nothing waiting for it to pop up in our garden. We're trying to create some shade again in the meantime.

Hi EnJoyceFamily, firstly, where are you located? If you're in the UK, we don't recommend you try dealing with it yourself. If you let us know where you are, we can recommend appropriate action.

How can you possibly know that you’ve removed all of it from just digging one hole?

WHAT ABOUTE BEHIND THE FENCE ??

We provide information about knotweed outside of the property boundary within the survey report. So this would have been covered with the client at the time.

Can knotweed be treated with broad spectrum systemic herbicide which would eliminate the need to remove and transport so much matetial?
@JKLtdTV3 жыл бұрын
Knotweed can be very effectively treated and controlled with systemic herbicides. However, viability of the plant’s underground rhizome may persist in a dormant state following herbicide treatment. Excavation quickly and completely removes knotweed, which is liked by homeowners, buyers, and those looking to landscape or develop the ground containing knotweed rhizome.

@@JKLtdTV Yes it does, but at a much higher cost. Roundup and tarps early in the Spring are very effective.
@JKLtdTV3 жыл бұрын
@@hemmarket We don't recommend using tarps. However, we provide herbicide and excavation options for Japanese knotweed. Which method is deployed depends on the future plans for the affected area. We will always advise clients on their legal responsibilities to control the knotweed on their property or to completely remediate prior to any construction works/site disturbance. We've been successfully excavating and treating Japanese knotweed for over 10 years. We currently manage over 6000 active herbicide programmes, we complete 200 excavations per year and we have over 700 Trustpilot reviews.

There's a 4x10 meter patch of it beyond my property fence. There's nothing we can do to contain it!

Same 😰 we're thinking about digging in a root barrier 2-3m deep across the whole fence.

Hi Derek, I'm late with this info but maybe it will still help. I'm in massachusetts, and HAD a thick patch of knotweed 15 x 120 feet and at least 6 feet high. I sprayed it with Compare n Save 41% Glyphosate . 2 to 4 ounces mixed with 1 gallon warm water. spray in august when plants have flowers. the stem will take the poison down to the rhizome. spray again in the fall. 2nd year about 30% of the plants will grow back. spray again when they flower and again in the fall. I'm on my 3rd year now and 12 stunted plants are all that's left, will spray them this fall. let them die on their own, do not dig them up you'll spread them everywhere. this video is ridiculous, they're treating these plants as if they are radioactive. Compare n Save 41% Glyphosate in 2.5 gallon jug is around $100 on line. that's all you need.

@@58DELLA Thanks for the detailed reply. I'm a bit worried about using glyphosate because we have dogs and grow vegetables not too far from there. My method has been to rip up the knotweed from the root whenever I see them. It takes me a few minutes every day. I've noticed it's becoming less over the last 2 years…
