It’s really crummy that 100-year-old house was burned. What a special place. I grew up in the area and have always wanted to live in an old house like that. My grandpa was a ranch manager in Oxnard and my grandparents lived in a very old house on the ranch.

Most wildfires are caused by lighting strikes (not in this case), otherwise electrical wires (SCE replaced all our local distribution grid, all wires are plastic coated now), cars stopping on bush, people cutting brush, etc. PS -118 freeway is always having brush fires from discarded cigarets and sparks from trucks, etc.

I mean wind alone can start alot of things. Heavy vegetation can rub together and start a spark, power line could have been damaged and started a spark, who knows. A person could have started it by throwing away a cigarettte butt, use outdoor bbq (yes some people do that in the morning)... Either way, if a person started it, needs to be HEAVILY fined. We live in a fire prone area, not to mention we were in a firewatch warning.

Houses are just more flammable than trees and bushes that have natural water content. The brush did burn as well. Everything else wasn't untouched by the fire.

Yikes, I just left California a few months ago, and fires like these were one of the reasons I left. I lived on hillsides, and we had two close calls with fires in the last five years. My insurance went up about 275% in three years. I expected to be canceled by the insurance company this year. We have many close family and friends in this fire region. Newsom will need to call Trump and beg for federal assistance even though Trump is the devil to him.
