Resilient Social Forestry in Indonesia: The Impact of KUPS Lestari

The Indonesian village of #Malitu is famous for its vast #forests of palm #trees and palm sugar production. However, obtaining a license for their granulated palm sugar has been a prolonged struggle due to control by a large industrial timber plantation. Despite eventually securing a social forestry permit and increasing palm sugar production, profitability remained elusive for the Malitu community.
Through our PSPGM (Social Forestry for Women and Young Generation) program, and with funding from Google.org's Impact Challenge for #Women and #Girls, our Environmental Governance program is working with local partners to provide training on sales and marketing to the village community, facilitating greater profitability in their endeavors.
