@@Rimsim1520 Yes, i have a few. For example Abu Yahya Muhammad Ibn Ali Ibn Abi-Imran At-Tinnalali born in 1179 in Marrakech was by 25th great grandfather. He is known by just being named Abu Yahya, he had a son who was captured by the christians and forced to convert, to Jaime de Gator. And his blood line continued. And you may have heard of the Maia family in portugal. Which has been wrapped with controversy family origin wise they tried to hide it. But i spoke with a geologist who went to portugal to review all the documents, and they found witnesses, signatures, land selling and buying & a nisab. We can start with Zaydan (Zahadon Al Umawi) ibn Zayd born 833 my 40th great grandfather. Married Aragunte Fromariques born 890. According to documents of Nisab his father Zayd or Zahad born 0853 married a daughter of Abdullah I ibn Muhammad Al-Umawi ruler of al andalus born 844. It is stated it was a marriage within the family. So Zayd and Abdullah’s daughter were cousins, Zayd being from the Habib clan. Their connection stems from Abd Al-Malik born 646. I also have more, ancestors from Morocco and Mozarabs who intermixed and adoted the culture. But that is just a start

actually he's right; after last muslim polity in granada fell in 1492, the muslims were slowly forcibly converted, but they continued to be crypto muslims, this angered the church so in 1609 they ordered all moriscos to be expulsed from spain regardless of outward religion

My first visit to Granada was in early 2000. I met a Spanish convert Muslim who related a story from his catholic mother, that the way the Catholic Spaniards washed their faces was like the way of Muslims making Wudu. After passing many centuries Islam had left an indelible mark on Spainish architecture and society.

I find it is a natural return to Islam in Spain, not only from the historical standpoint but in a more personal manner, my mother’s grandparents were both Spaniards, my father’s were North African decendants and since my childhood I hold the nostalgic feeling of both cultures, which have the Muslim factor in common.

I stayed with one of the families from this Spanish/Western Muslim community in Granada in 2009, and it was the best decision I made. Not only did I change for the better living amongst this community ( being a British Muslim myself), but I would say this Spanish Muslim community is one of the most sophisticated Muslim communities I came into contact with. Unfortunately, I made the drastic mistake of returning to London only after 7 months of being there, and not only do I regret it, but my life nose dived for the worse (again) and I really struggled to find a similarly sophisticated Muslim community* in the metropolis of London. * After returning to the UK in late 2009, I did visit the British sister community in Norwich which again,I felt privileged to experience. However, as I returned to my life pre-Granada in the South East London borderline with Kent, things went back to a very mundane bleakness. I love London, and after another experience living abroad in the last 3 years, I now know London is my home and where I belong, but the Muslim communities in London (from my personal experience ) haven't always been welcoming, can be very insular and lack the sophistication of the Muslim communities that I interacted with in Granada and Norwich.

@@ummpearls Thanks for your comment. In the hope that your question is genuine, here is my reply. The Muslim community in Granada ( or when I was there at least) were able to integrate while also adhering to foundational Islamic principles and teachings, neither being insular, isolating themselves from Spanish society, nor secular just 'to be accepted' . And of course, they stayed away from the insanity of subversive ideology or 'brotherhoods' that claim to be giving 'Dawah or defending Islam'( when such groups actually cause more harm than good). In a nutshell, they displayed a collective, proactive wisdom and application about what it meant to be on the middle path. I guess, this could be because they are, in a way, the direct inheritors of The Andalus. Just my experience and opinion, but I hope it answers your question.

I have frequented this small mosque for more than a decade on top of the hill within the Albaicin, Granada. About 15 minutes from downtown Granada to walk along the alleys of the residential areas, where the design and intricate decor of Islamic motives. Only a handful of Muslims patronizing at that time. mostly the Berbers of North Africa which operates small businesses in downtown Granada. Now it seems more local Spanish embracing Islam. Alhamdulillah... May Allah Blessed You All, our doa Spain will attain again the Islam that they lost during the time when Europe was in the dark. Nobody can deny the fact, Islam in Spain that enlightened Europe from the darkness of empty soul to an awakening. Love Andalusia.
