Hey, I've been cleaning my eggshells and dying them with alcohol ink and making art and then covering with resin with great effects and results!! Adds texture like features. How unique is that!!! I love that you added the stone. It's almost as if it's a lone tree. Your comment about "naughty stone" made me almost spit my coffee out! You are so much fun! Now, when I make one similarly, I will use a bit of glitter in it just to see what it does! See what you've done to me ;). I'm a glitter hound now! lmao.

Love your videos! I use hair spray to dry my flowers. It prevents the petals from Browning. I then use them in resin projects. It has never discolored the resin. You just have to make sure the flower and the hair spray is completely dry. Hope that helps 🙂

Question, I've just started using epoxy resin, how would I go about casting smaller flowers. Tryed casting direct and lost the colour, also stems are to small to support. Is there a way.? Cheers.
@zedgathegreat91223 жыл бұрын
Haven't done a lot with flowers myself, but... One of the big problems is resin tends to "cook" what you put it in it, and can even leach colors weeks or months later. I've seen others do it, and with experience in other projects, I can say that the flowers would need to be dried very well first and foremost. On top of that, you're best bet would be to do some kind of sealant on top of it. Polyurethane spray coat will work really well (cheap rattle can you buy almost anywhere will do the trick. Matte, Crystal Clear, etc. won't matter as it's submerged in resin. If you plan to spray this on finished casted objects, it will matter though as what you spray it with will take on the texture of the sealant. Something to keep in mind for further projects). This can prevent the color leaching into the resin, the objects being baked inside the resin, etc. Also if you're worried about the stems being to small to cast, you should wait until the resin is starting to harden (depends on the resin, but most art/expoxy resin takes around 40 or so minutes pot life before it starts to cure) before adding the object. This way it won't float to the bottom or mix as much. You can also do a small layer, let it cure, then add the flower and more resin on top of it.

@KrimsonLotus3 жыл бұрын
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts if you do this project, or if someone wanted to do this project... Do you think it's possible to use fishing line/ filament to dangle the sea creatures at different levels? I'm curious if it would show in the resin. I've seen a few resin artist make the appearance of the animals at different depths by pouring a set amount, setting in the creatures, then curing that level. Then they add to it level by level. That seems like a lot of curing time for one project. I'm not sure if I'm explaining this clearly!

Cool video, though I am concerned to see that UV light shining on your skin, as UV light damages DNA and cells and can lead to cancer. Proper methods of protection should be used when working with UV light (not just to protect your skin, but to protect your eyes too). I recommend researching this topic for more info on it. Aside from that, thank you for sharing this video. It is interesting to see how casting a dandelion is done! I searched up how it is done because I saw a dandelion in resin online and was curious about it.
