Hi Everyone. This video is a full tutorial on how to preserve a beloved pets fur and or ashes in resin. I have been asked 100s of times how to do this so that people can make commemorative pieces for themselves or their friends. It is very upsetting losing a beloved pet and this way people can still feel close to them. I have made many of these for people and they have always said how much comfort they receive from their commemorative resin token that I have made them.

I made a sterling silver memorial ring with my husband’s ashes with resin, with a wee bit of glitter and food colouring. Most people think it’s an Opal. Was a project for my jewellery design course at college.

I lost my last precious furbaby in 1992, shortly after I lost my Dad and long before I heard the word resin (other than related to trees, of course). I kept a few of her baby teeth and a bit of her fur. Thanks to your video I can now create a wearable momento of her. So precious! Thank you!!!!!

I have lost two of my fur babies one of them I lost right after I had my daughter and since she was a rescue from a bad living situation I didn't have like any adoption paperwork or anything like that and when I brought her to the free vet clinic cuz she was hit by a vehicle and they didn't stop they just kept going she ran out the door and down the stairs the apartment stairs and I couldn't get down quick enough to get her and a vehicle was doing 35 in a 10 mile an hour zone anyways so I had to call a friend to come watch my daughter and they let me take their vehicle to the free animal clinic but my point is they wouldn't release her ashes to me because I had no paperwork proving that she was my animal and my cat who is also a rescue from a very bad living situation got outside somehow while I wasn't home and when I got home nobody knew where she was so even to this day I still look for her I pray that maybe somebody else found her and just lied to me about it because it breaks my heart to think that I couldn't find her and she died alone outside but I do have some of their baby teeth my dog and my cats the dog I have now he I was able to save some of his baby teeth that he didn't end up swallowing but the pain of losing part of the family is never easy and it's painful it hurts and never goes away I lost my first fur baby when I was 21 I'm 34 now and all I have left are the few teeth and pictures my cat I have nothing but one or two of her teeth and pictures and this little boy I have now he don't get to go anywhere without me he is glued to my side like resin epoxy resin it's not easy it hurts it's heartbreaking and devastating and terrible and I am very sorry for your loss my friend

I saw your "What's the best resin to choose for a project?" video. My garter snake buddy just passed away, and was wondering what I could use to cast him posed on a rock? I have never done resin casting before, and don't have the tools yet to do it, and would love some help. I was thinking something like your polar bear diorama? Thank you so much!

Not any old taxidermist can do reptiles, either. Look for a specialist in them. A bit more expensive but worth the price increase to have them preserved correctly.

Hi Steve, love your videos, thank you for all your experimenting and instruction. I am a long time resin user, both 2-part and UV resin. There are hard & soft UV resins available, I use the hard UV resin and I'm betting you and your viewers are also. The handheld UV light you are using is ONLY 10 Watts. All UV resin will cure completely (and hard) if you use a 36watt or higher wattage UV lamp. The handheld UV light is good for surface setting the resin, not really curing anything any thicker, especially with inclusions and glitter/mica as UV resin cures from the outside in. Sunlight would be more effective. I suggest you look at UV nail lamps for curing UV nail polish or the more expensive (because they are labeled for resin, even though they ARE nail lamps)ones sold on resin websites. Your resin will be solid and you can add domed surface layers quickly with the UV resin too. Also, if you use the brown or opaque silicone molds, you will always get the sticky bottom because the UV can't get through, where as with the translucent silicone molds, they can be turned over and put back under the UV lamp.

Thank you for sharing this video. I’ve only just discovered you on here a couple of weeks ago and have been bingeing on them every day. I lost my baby girl on April 20 this year and have her ashes here. She was almost 15 yrs old and I had her from 8 weeks of age. I plan on putting it in a urn, but may keep a little for a pendant. I am going to make a large heart with her photo and a few of her favourite things and some silver princess flowers (she was blonde and my princess). Again, thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for this! I've been wanting to make something for my daughter with my mom's ashes & hair because she didn't get anything when the rest of the family did. She was young and would not have kept it safe & really wouldn't have understood the value to it. Now that I know she is ready for something, you have given me inspiration (yet again) 🙂

Can I use epoxy resin for ashes or does it have to be UV resin
@Zeivusgaming
@Zeivusgaming 3 жыл бұрын
You can use either, but UV is less likely to be messed up and is better for small layers. Given the fact that these are ashes, the less chances to mess up, the better. If you use epoxy and don't mix it right or move it before it cures, it can cause problems if it is touched or dropped

I think these are brilliant. And can be used for ashes of loved ones as well. I am going to give these a go. The glitter pendant, I might have used a mica a shade lighter than the ashes & a little less glitter as it might give a little more texture & only the owner would know ashes were in there. Before adding the top coat for this one, the heart & bone is I would include a photograph on one side the heart & cuboid pendant & sealed it in place with the resin. The photo could lay against your skin or the ashes side could. With the bone, I would use a die cut to cut out the letters for the pets name or alphabet stickers. I would level the back off but leave a little depth. When cured, place in the letters to spell the pets name & fill to the top. Then maybe some it off at the very end. I think this would be helpful in case the owner had another pet & asked for you to do the same again. So if the pets had very similar coloured fur, you would know who was in each mould. But it is a great idea. I might try the paw print out for my cat who passed away over 10 years ago.

Thank you for this video. I have been thinking of doing a memorial but wasn't quite sure how to go about it. I think the pet memorials would be something a lot of people would treasure. I'm also thinking of doing something as a memorial for my Mother. Although I don't have any ashes or anything like that, I thought a picture and a few pieces of jewelry and things she enjoyed would be great in a Pyramid. What else would you suggest?

I absolutely love these, I've been doing some things with UV resin and starting with epoxy resin and I lost my fur baby a little over a year ago and I had her cremated and saved hair and this gives me great ideas. I do have 1 question tho can you use human ashes as well? Just the ash part of will a piece of bone fragment work too? Cause my brother passed away in a tragic lake accident and I know my mom would live if I could do one with humans ashes. Cause her and I do feel so guilty about how it all happened there are always so many what ifs.

This is hilarious. Who would keep their pets ashes? I’ve never heard of such a silly thing. I didn’t even know that was an option. This must be an over-the-pond thing. Considering pets live about 1/7th of a human life span and often multiple pets are had at a time,... that is around 14 pets or more in a lifetime, those ashes would sure pile up!! How many ash-jewelry pieces could one person have/wear? I do appreciate the ideas, though, I have excess ashes from my mother’s cremation that I haven’t known what to do with so this will be something to do with her.

People who love their pets would keep their ashes. Sometimes, pets really make life worth living and often interesting. My little orange bastard gave me some of best years growing up and I would not have it any other way.
