Hiya. Just found your channel and I look forward to watching you grow with working with resin. Welcome to the crazy world of NEEDING everything mould you see lol. A quick bit of advice is not to use the things you got for mixing your resin with, for mixing the resin. The shape of the silicone part isn't going to allow you to scrape all around the inside of the mixing pot to make sure you have the resin mixed thoroughly and to make sure you don't get any unmixed sections in your finished piece. You can get silicone stirring sticks as well as using plastic, reusable popsicle sticks or even cocktail stirrers. I wouldn't recommend using the mixing pots as actual moulds either as they can have the measurements on the inside and will leave that embedded on the finished piece. I have lots of advice I could give you here, but it would take too long lol. You could come check out some of my videos and hopefully, there is some useful stuff to learn from them lol. All the best and good luck with your new adventure, Diane x

Oh my goodness thank you so much for your advice. That makes a lot of sense RE stirring and not getting it all mixed. Thanks again!

It all looks really good. Can't wait to see what you're going to make with it all 😀 If you think the hairpin is too square, you can use a dremel to shape it into how you want it and then "paint" it with a layer of resin to restore the smooth surface. Also, if you want to, you can use the measuring cups to make something more three-dimensional with a focus on the content. I know it wouldn't function, like a coaster, but I think it could still be very pretty having a cylinder with things like flower in it. Although I don't know if that would be considered a deep pour...

Thank you for the lovely comment. I'm not sure if I could top coat the hairpin as the resin is actually very runny. However I can sand it (I bought sanding paper which goes down to 6000 grit) and then polish it so that could definitely work. And husband has a Dremel 😊😊 Ooh I love your idea of casting some things in the measuring jugs. I am pretty sure they would count as a deep pour if I poured them all at once but I would maybe pour it in layers. Definitely something to experiment with 😁

You wouldn't need a think coat, just a very thin coat. I've seen videos with other resin workers doing this, and it seems like a much easier way of restoring the shine to the surface than sanding. Ah, yeah. I hadn't even thought about pouring in layers. That would probably be possible. It would also allow you easier layer the items you want to encase in the resin.

Oh thank you for that. I'll look into it.

Looks interesting, I think a visit to a beach for some tiny shell collecting used with blue sparkles would make lovely coasters 🐚 would real petals or flowers work ? New hobbies or artworks are exciting 😀
