I have been practicing waves for years now and still have times when they don't work out. There are so many videos out there but so many are on huperlapse (I have posted them also) and it's hard to follow "how" it was actually done so hopefully this helps at least 1 person. I am the worst at overworking the white trying to get the cells to appear. As you see, the cells continue to appear after you stop pushing it with the heat so many times you have to just stop and watch.
Formulas will be different for each resin because they react differently based on their cure time and viscosity. I am using Jdiction 4 hour cure resin in this video. It is thicker, and your wait time won't be as long (30 min), but when I use thinner resins that have a 12 hour or 24 hour cure time, I wait 45 min to an hour before laying down the clear and the white to push the waves.
Another huge factor that comes into play is the temperature of your work area. check with your particular resin for the recommended temperature. Mine are typically 73° and above. My room temp was 83° when I created this piece.
*Always work in a well ventilated area and wear prpper PPE when working with resin. protect your family and pets by sealing off the area while working and curing.
