1: YTA, there isn't a "right direction". If she likes Legos and stuff, let her. 2: NSH. I can get both sides. OP feels uncomfortable, and mother is trying her best to be supportive while still keeping something she likes. 3: NTA. What is wrong with OP's dad and friends?

2. I completely disagree. OP is definitely TA, listening to the words (not the tone of the reader) it's every obvious that OP has no respect for his mom, or mental illness. The mom isn't bringing up the tattoo, and (by the sound of it) it seems this tattoo has been in place for a long, long time. Telling (not even asking!) someone to remove a tattoo that had been in place for years, pay for all those expenses, and be left with the blank aftermath of something that has been a part of them for years is completely unreasonable. It would be a completely different story if this was a recent tattoo, received after OP changed his name.

7. That's a really tough situation. NAH, because what was OP supposed to do? Leave a child in an abusive household? No, especially when the child calls you because you're their safe contact. The kids are probably still too young to fully comprehend the situation, so it's sad it ended up like this.

The first story made me go through a roller coaster of emotions. At first I was mad at this parent & then so happy that this little girl turned it around on mom/dad. Then I was glad that this parent learned their lesson & realized they didn't want their daughter to change who she was. They became the ass hole again when they still refused to get this child a birthday gift that they would enjoy and appreciate. Kids like what they like. As parents our job is to help them figure out who they are and teach them kindness, love, communication, personal responsibility, and accountability. As parents we can be wrong and it's 100% okay. It's a good lesson for our children to have their parents admit when they are wrong and act accordingly to right that wrong. The last emotion I felt as the story really sank in was fear.. Are you 100% sure she's doing all this to make a point and that she hasn't been possessed by a ballerina demon??? First she got bad vibes from the music box... but she would play it all the time. Second you removed the key so it wouldn't play, & yet it still played. Then she's awake when she should be sleeping, dancing around in a girly tutu ALONE. Why would she do that when she A) doesn't like the music box B) isn't into girly things *tutus * & C) would most certainly get in trouble for being up past her bedtime. And then she wouldn't respond to her name. 😱😱😱

For the tattoo one. I'm a ftm, and I actually don't connect with the whole dead name thing. I still think of it as my given/brithname, cause that's what it is, the one that was give, and as we transition we chose the names we transition to. Not to say it's ok for people to refuse to use that chosen name. But that's beside this point. This one is the tattoo was there before the mother even knew, possibly before the narrator themselves knew, and to get mad about it it ridiculous. The mother is supportive, even tries to hide it from view which she shouldn't have to. So yea, that person is an asshole for this. Honestly as a community or whatever, trans individuals should accept that those names are our past, are part of what has made us us. And seeing it in thing that were done before we came out should not be upsetting, it's our past, good or bad, trauma and all. And again, this is not me saying misgendering or being call by birthname and not our chosen names are ok, but it someone is accepting and genuinely trying we should not attack or get angry we them. Save it for those that are not accepting.

I have a unisex name, so I never had a deadname, just new pronouns, but I don't think someone who has a deadname needs to just accept it as the past. That person can't just get over the disphora and pain associated with it. I do think getting upset over the tattoo when covered is a bit much

@@PeacockandPuppets that's not exactly what I meant. Those sort of things take time to heal, at sort of pain and/or trauma does. But, as with any, you should try to heal and accept it, because just ignoring it, refusing to acknowledge it, and/or rejecting it it's healthy. And I get that some needed to say that person of the past is no more. The not liking deadname is more my personal feelings and not for everyone. But I do believe that we, everyone not just the trans community, need to be more understanding and accepting, to take to time to better understand and communicate... to an extent, some people are just pos that can kiss a hippos ass -,-"

Second story, OP is in the wrong. They say don’t get your lover tattooed on your arm because it’s PERMANENT. I say op is in the wrong, but they aren’t an asshole, I just think they don’t realize what goes into a tattoo
@Ouchiness

Agreed. Unfortunately any kind of procedure like this comes with risks and is physically and emotionally exhausting. I really think OP needs to value that mom is using their name & trying to cover up the offending tattoo. If mom were using the tattoo as an excuse to continue with deadnaming that would be one thing but mom is clearly just as uncomfortable with the tattoo, it’s just a large procedure to get another one.

#2: tattoos are so physical and permanent. If mom is making efforts to cover the tattoo, while I understand how painful that is to still have *deadname* there, that’s a large procedure and physical change that people need to come to in their own time. We are sovereign over our own bodies and you really can’t tell someone to change their body. You can ask them to cover things that make you uncomfortable if it’s related to you but asking someone to physically change their body crosses a line.

Here are my quick opinions on all of the stories. 1. Something that I caught from the story that brings a really big red flag is "leading her in the right direction". In life, there is truly no right direction, and trying to not LEAD her but FORCE her in YOUR direction, in my opinion, is not how it should be done nor should you do it. 2. As a person who was not tran or knows people who are trans this story is hard for me to comment on. From the outside looking in it honestly seems like the mom is doing everything she can especially if the part where she says "she can't handle another tattoo session" holds some truth to it. However one thing that I can acknowledge is that you can change yourself but that's because you change yourself doesn't mean the people have to change around you. If they want to change is up to them if they don't then you can't make them. At the same time I feel like you can't make people see your point of view. Maybe in this situation backed out what he's doing and he just feels uncomfortable with the tattoo, but I think finding a compromise is a very good solution. 3. My opinion here is simple THIS IS WRONG. I don't know about the rest of you but I personally don't believe in sugar daddies. I don't think they're right, relevant, or needed especially if you were cardent of to produce enough money for yourself. And this Situation gets more wrong especially if you're doing all this at the expense of your own daughter who you should be taken care of. 4. For the birthday suit my opinion here is also simple. The OP's friend bought it for her so why can't she wear it. Yes, maybe it was a little rude to wear it in front of her boyfriend. I say, SO WHAT!! You got it for me now behold the consequences. 5. As a person who is religious myself being told to take off something that represents my Religion can either be seen as offensive or it's under the right circumstances fairly reasonable. In this situation if it's just for a wedding, I say don't compromise. You shouldn't have to not where something that represents you even for one wedding. Especially, if it means that much to you. 6. Although I see where the bride is coming from, I believe she is in the wrong for lying in general. Instead of lying that she wanted a simple make up job for a wedding with the excuse that she doesn't like heavy makeup. Instead of lying for that she should have instead told you honestly but tried to negotiate the price with you. The prices are like that for a reason, And well yes I believe that she shouldn't be charged full price for a simple makeup job. If she was honest with you in the 1st place and negotiated the price with you then I don't think you would have ran into this problem in the 1st place. 7. If I mean totally honest with you, you did the best you could have done in this situation. I mean who in the right mind would let a child go back to an abusive household all because your kids don't like them. Right now your kids will see this as favoritism, But as I grow up and learn about the situation more and more they'll eventually understand that this was the right decision to make. So don't hold this over your head. 8. How about this why can't you pay for everyone at the gate instead of trying to find a way to pay ahead of time. Really I don't think the issue is the Canyon fee cause well it happens. But I think the real issue is the wedding itself. I know people are allowed to do whatever they want for their weddings but making people bring their own stuff, have a little bit of food, and just in general how the wedding I think is being made here it's very cheapskate of you. Also, about the gift receiving thing online if people before have asked you about it and you just posted it for the air shakes then I don't think that's an issue. The issue is it just adds to the cheapskate look. 9. I honestly don't see the issue and why you guys can't sleep together. You guys obliged by the rule that you can't sleep together until you're married and even after that they still want you to sleep separate? Even if they are NOT homophobic bowick by them doing this it makes them look like they are. In all honesty while I do not feel bad for the parents in the situation hurricane kicked out I do however feel bad for the kids because they technically did nothing wrong. So if you can I'd say if anything either take the kids in with you if they want to. Or for the kids to take help them out find another place to live. I'd say if there were no kids in this situation who were involved then there would not be an issue in general. However since there are kids involved that's when the situation gets a little bit more tricky. 10. Stand up for your rights and a matter what do not apologize. Those kids essentially just killed fish and even if theyoretically they did survive they then promoted a destruction of an ecosystem. And if not only the parents but the teachers can't jump and support on this issue, Then what does that say about this school in general. And although in the moment calling her a dumbass might seem too rude. In all honesty, that's what she is. She is dumb for doing that in the 1st place. And an a** for sharing all about it on social media and not doing proper research 1st into what that could do for the fish and ecosystem. So yeah I don't think the real issue here is what you said to her more or less the issue here is the school's actions towards it. They shouldn't be making you apologize if anything they should be lecturing that girl for what she did, having an assembly, and teaching children that throwing fish into the wild like that is not right not for the fish nor for the ecosystem.

The mothers tattoo with their child's "deadname" was done before their transitioning was even an idea. The tattoo was their mother's bonding experience with the other sibling and was HER choice regarding her own body! Ugh! To constantly pressure the mother to change her body, and then to rally support with family members to bully her about it is hypocritical and unacceptable. TOTALLY the A$$hole!!!

Change the music in it to SLIPKNOT or something tomboyish/less girly (you can get custom music for music boxes online). Dye the ballerina dress black. Paint their nails black with a toothpick. And dye the hair black with a sharpie or paint (depending what material the hair is).

For story 9 as someone who is bi with an unsupportive family I think OP made the right choice love is love no matter who it is with and the fact that they said that it was not a true marriage is bs and also they were rude to your husband for no reason while saying that you were going to evicting them might have been a little to far they were being rude and they have no right to tell you who to love so NTAH

Story 10, 100% NTA. Im a vet and I'm sick of idiots like this killing goldfish or- sorry as they say: "saving them." on Tiktok for their pathetic saviour complexes when all they're done is kill them by throwing them in salt water, or thrown them into small ponds with other fish and dooming the other fish to painful deaths as a result. I don't even care OP was rude about it, people who do this to animals almost never listen to how they're wrong.

First story: yes you are in the wrong. Getting your daughter something girly isn’t gonna change her or her mind and what she does and doesn’t like. When I was a bit younger I was more girly much to my mom’s delight however the older I got them much more clumsy and dirty I got from roughhousing with my brother and painting and building and everything due to my interests. Other things along the years have more pushed me to a more tomboyish look than a female look because I would prefer wearing shorts and pants with a ‘masculine’ shirt over a girly blouse and skirts (or booty shorts for those who wear those, no shame tho). But just because your daughter is interested in something doesn’t mean she’s in the wrong and needs to be pushed in the right direction and yeah of course she’s gonna make a point because you pushed her outside of her comfort zone and you only think that she likes it and loves to make yourself feel better about getting her something she obviously does not like or want. Let the girl be a little tomboy it won’t kill you

S1-yes mom is the AH, you have to accept your child as they are. S2-yes the child is the AH. Dead name, really. I have a trans daughter and we do not refer to her previous name as a dead name, as I have buried an adult child as well and that is dead. S3-that is not a best friend. I say walk away from both of them!!

Imagine having a daughter who is bright and inquisitive enthusiastic about life but doesn’t really like girly things. And calling her a terrorist for feeding you the energy you yourself forced down her throat. If this is a man, he doesn’t need to reproduce anymore. If this is a woman she doesn’t need to reproduce anymore. They don’t appreciate the gift they were bestowed.

Story 1: YTA set her on the right direction? What is wrong with you! Your child is choosing what she want for herself and you call her a terrorist!? What kind of parent douse that Story 2: YTA she is obviously trying and you say thats not enough get rid of a tattoo can be painful and I see how with older age those sessions would be horrible I understand seeing your dead name may be triggering but the disrespect towards you mother is horrible the tattoo would be painful to remove and it has sentimental value for her if you want others to respect you, you have to be able to compromise and respect others as-well

Story 3: NTA that is just plain creepy I mean first of all they didn’t tell you which may not be such a big thing to Some but if I was in that situation, I would be livid. Also the fact that they tried to invite another young girl to enter the “ relationship “ kind of gives me a really weird and creepy feeling. I think OP has every right to be mad about it and every right to complain about it because that is really creepy. Story 4: YTA you knew her boyfreind was there and chose to flash the poor guy on purpose for what? Payback they is really petty and on top of that you pretended not to notice when he was staring honestly are we sure OP doesn’t have a thing for the boyfriend ?

If you hate the tattoo that much, ask her if she’d be open to adding part to the tattoo design with your current name, she would still have the deadname but it would also include your current name so you’d both get what you want. Also I’d like to say that I understand if trans people don’t like their deadname, but I want to know from a trans person why most hate theirs so much? I think you shouldn’t forget or try to change the past and just embrace that it used to be a part of you, this isn’t saying you need to love it and go by it, I just wanna know why you would hate it so much? (So so SO sorry if this is offensive I’m genuinely curious I mean no hate!!!!)

Ok the tattoo one really got me angry. They are definitely the AH, and I think they are bc she is disrespecting what her mum wants for her own body, it’s not ur body and the tattoo isn’t even just about you. They said it triggered them to see the dead name is the most important thing and everyone’s priority to make u comfortable but then completely dismissed that their mum has depression and no motivation. Then the mum tried her best to cover it up and was obviously very worried about it (cuz she actually cares about them) and then it’s not ok to just not see it but knowing it’s there is still triggering? Like after removing the tattoo, the memory of it being there is too painful? Is putting on makeup over it still too much for u? Then cutting off her arm (ik extreme but hear me out) is still too triggering cuz u knew it was once there? How far u wanna take this just to make a fight about something that u can’t even see. To be fair, I’m not trans so idk what it is like but her body, her choice.

Also, if you’re gonna release animals into the wild shouldn’t you do the bare minimum and research the fish? Or even just ask the person at the pet store? How can people be this stupid? The OP did her a damn favour by pointing out just how much of a moron that girl was. SMH. Those poor fish 😞 (The first story as well damn that’s exactly what I hope NOT to be as a parent. The tattoo: OP is definitely the asshole… 10 out of 10 point blank. Mama gets to keep that tattoo because guess what!? it holds, sentimental value to her. We all have to put up with things in this life that we do not like! Get over it. It’s her body, her choice! Just because it makes you uncomfortable does not mean that everything in this world needs to bend over backwards for you what you go through. I mean how entitled would you have to be in order to think that you have any authority or should have any say over what somebody does with their own body? The world or your family does not have to bend over backwards and adapt just to make you feel comfortable! People transition to blend into society, and to be perceived, as the gender that they transitioned to. your mom decided to cover it up, but that’s not enough for you. You want it gone despite not understanding the significance of that tattoo for her. Plus, I hope you really do enjoy being a Man, if and when you do transition because life is gonna get a lot harder for you ways you’re not gonna see coming! Truly, I do not wish any ill will, but I hope that OP actually did do research on the fact, because there are plenty of cases of people that have detransitioned that regret it and have done irreversible damage to themselves.
