Resistance Through Reading Tibetan. As suppressing the Tibetan language becomes a central part of China's policy in Tibet, teaching, reading, and writing Tibetan have emerged as forms of active resistance against China's Sinicization efforts.
This week, Tibet Writes Publishing House and Wazur Organization launched a Tibetan Reading Retreat, where young Tibetans immersed themselves in Tibetan literature, poems, and history in their native language. Through collective reading, participants not only enhanced their Tibetan language skills but also explored the challenges and struggles of modern Tibetan life. Kunleng host Phuntsok Lhungrub invited Tenzin Shenyin Monsal, a student from the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics, and screenwriter Jamyang Phuntsok Jongtruk to discuss the significance of this program and its impact on Tibetan youth.

The reason why young Tibetans are not very interested in reading Tibetan is because, they are not familiar with the language. FAMILIARITY IS THE GATE WAY TO RENEWED INTEREST. So, they have familiarise with the language in order to get the taste of the language. They can read news portals such as ཁ་བརྡ་དང་བོད་ཀྱི་བང་ཆེན་ལ་སོགས་ to familiarise with the language. The more they get used to reading, it will also improve their language skill, in both reading and writing and that’s how they will improve both interest and enthusiasm in our language. Tibetan language is one of the most beautiful languages in the world! All young Tibetans must learn our own language. If you don’t know your own language it’s an embarrassment!
