So true, but it’s also worth noting that resistance might lead you, at some point, to be fed to the lions. Dietrich Bonhoeffer experienced persecution firsthand, so I reckon its worth considering what he had to say on it: "Suffering then is the badge of true discipleship. The disciple is not above his master. Following Christ means passio passiva, suffering because we have to suffer... It is not for us to decide whether we can bear the cross or not. That is for him to decide... The cross is laid on every Christian. It begins with the call to abandon the attachments of this world. It is that dying of the old man which is the result of his encounter with Christ. As we embark upon discipleship we surrender ourselves to Christ in union with his death-we give over our lives to death... When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die."

This quote sums up the abject foolishness of Protestantism and its theologians. Daniel shows that it is totally possible for ppl to cast truth to the ground when it isn't being defended. The whole reason why some of the church eras in Rev. 2-3 fell into decline after such a good start is because the truth wasn't being defended!

I like what you said Doug, about taking the enemy of God out through his conversion! We down here in NZ where evil gvmt is at war with all that is good and right, seem oblivious to the end result of neglect of true Worship of the Living God. Still God knows those whom are called by His name, and through the coming persecution will preserve and multiply His Kingdom. But having said that, yes I am tempted to give Him a hand in dealing out vengeance against His enemies; but know that His justice is absolutely right, whereas mine is flawed by sin. Yet as a Reformed believer I know there is a bright future ahead, once these dark clouds that envelop us are behind us! God is still on His throne and nothing, outside of His will can occur, not even one hair or sparrow can fall without the will of He who made it!

My Dad is formerly an NZ permanent resident of over a decade. In that time he became convinced that the patients were running the asylum having seen the government bureaucracy from inside the medical system. Worse than that, he was of the opinion that the Kiwis had become so accustomed to having decisions made for them that they had lost all desire to be free. In God’s provision he was already planning to leave as COVID kicked off. He saw the lockdowns for long enough to really see them but leave before it got too bad. I think the hardest thing for him was seeing the golf courses become overgrown because it was illegal to come out to maintain them. Golf is his favorite (or favourite if you prefer) pastime and he was heartbroken seeing what took years to cultivate destroyed by weeks of neglect.

Absolutely. George Washington would be slapping us around like Patton in a field hospital saying "what's wrong with you?!? Get up, get out there, defy the evil tyrants and their subjugation of the American people." There was providence in the American Revolution and founding of our country. The founders believed they only succeeded because their cause was just. Now cowards who use "christ" as a shield to behind so they don't have to do anything against evil. So much safer to submit to tyrants and pray in quiet. There would be no America if cowards and red herrings like "daily theos" made up the Christian majority in 1770s.

@@Listen-To-Jesus I have just finished reading a modern translation of "Vindiciae contra tyrannos". It appears that a common historical interpretation of the Bible is that God chooses princes to rule over a people justly. In the case of Americans, there can be no legitimate Earthly authority apart from a government operating according to the constitution outlined by the founders. We cannot rebel against what they handed down to us without very good reason. I personally believe that that government died in 1913, but it still remains that there is NO other Earthly authority that could possibly unite Americans living today.

In most of these wit and theology filled monologues I come away a little Scripturally wiser and almost always amused. Today, however, that amusement is more rueful with the conclusion bringing a solemn noding in agreement. May our most glorious God in heaven rain down His mercies upon His faithful and swift wrath upon His enemies, in the name of the Son, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Spirit, One God now and forever. Amen!

Excellent. Thank you. Believers can not help but be sorely vexed over the evil paraded before our eyes. King David prayed for the destruction of the enemies of God, and with the authority given him, also set armies out to slay them. In the face of child sex trafficking, and child mutilation one can’t possibly pray for anything less than the immediate destruction of the perpetrators. The idea that a believer must “love “ everyone is completely mistrued. Paul explains “love” is to not sin against, which means as well to make righteous judgement. I pray daily for the wrath of God to be poured out on these devils who are tormenting and murdering the innocent, and believe my prayer is right. I believe if many believers would pray for this daily, we would see many victims spared much torment. “You have not because you ask not.” Too many have been convinced that it is a sin for them to make righteous judgement, and I believe they are useless in this holy war because of that.

Why is it that many Christians who believe the end is near are mocked and ridiculed? Can someone tell me why the desire to be with our Lord asap is seen as escapism? I share, pray with everyone I can about Jesus's love and gift of salvation through repentance, but still long to leave this increasingly wicked world. I like to remind people that "the sword" was not given for any purpose that those in authority can imagine. It was given for one purpose. When used contrary to that purpose, the governing authorities become the evil they are supposed to be fighting against. Christians are obliged to protect and defend the oppressed. The Church has lost its purpose when it teaches obedience to governing authorities, while the same governing authorities are using "the sword" to enrich themselves and provide privilege for some groups at the expense of others. Obedience has a purpose. That purpose is corrupted when obedience requires compliance and complicity in supporting governing authorities as they abuse "the sword". For many today, "failure to obey" is viewed as a crime; while governing authorities are free to use the sword however they please. Romans chapter 13 has a balance. Obedience without reciprocal restraint on governing authorities use of the sword is tyranny. If people refuse to obey because the governing authorities will not use the sword against those who do evil, there will be chaos.

I'm not calling for terrorism (random attack of a federal building), but at some point we have to realize the Founding Fathers, and many Christians then, did take up arms against a tyrannical government. When I'm commanded to love my neighbor and the administration of a government hurts my neighbor, do I stand by and do nothing? Resisting an administration, either politically or by force, is not resisting the institution of government. I desire government, good and godly government, but when those who administer it want to depose God, I owe THEM no allegiance, only the institution in so much as it serves God and the people. Would they have allowed these institutions to keep existing? There's a reason the administration is calling the Founding Fathers domestic terrorists. The administration has reached a level of tyranny where peaceful, God-fearing citizens have become a threat to the illegal and immoral abuse of power.

My question: we are given the right to self preservation for ourselves and our families. We are also told that those who do not provide for their families, including protection, are worse than infidels. Is a Christian ever permitted to raise up arms against governing authority to protect themselves and their families. I see plenty of examples of Christians fleeing, but the moment Peter defends Jesus, he is told those who live by the sword will die by the sword. We are at a moment where some places governing authorities have passed laws where they can talk yoir children if you do not confirm their gender identity. If they come for your children, what is a Christians options, in context to our 2nd Amendment.

Does this mean we resist the tax collector once we've paid what we owe Caeser? Or do we go beyond what Caeser is owed and give in to corruption and illegal activity and pay the tax collector what he demands as well? And in the case of a nation with rule of law, what are we to do when an official breaks the law and demands payment or obedience to something outside the law? I don't think any of the usual verses justify illegal activity, even if it is done by someone in authority, nor do they demand complacency to the illegal activities of another, even an official magistrate of the state.

Deuteronomy 21:18-21 doesn’t mention “children” (little kids), but rather “son”. The parents also tell the elders that he is a drunkard and a glutton, further implying we’re dealing with adults, not kids. So unless you can show where in the New Testament that that part of the law was done away with or changed, then I have no reason to believe it shouldn’t be in effect.

@@ezrajeremiah8631 What law did Paul appeal to, Nero's law or God's law? Romans 13: 8f - "Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled _the law_ (which law?). For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”" All of those laws were older than Rome and come from the OT. If we are to obey Nero in all things, why was Paul arrested? You need to reread the whole chapter very carefully. He tells us that we are to "do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God’s servant for your good," and the measure he gives us is God's law, not Roman law. He tells us to "Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed." Yet Paul and the other apostles didn't seem to place respect or honor for Nero over obedience to God. They followed God's law, as that law is the law of love, and when the servants of Nero came for them because of their illegal good conduct, they submitted to arrest, but they never put Nero above God. It is the tyrant who makes laws that oppose God's law and makes good conduct illegal.

@@oracleoftroy I understand the different between Azariah, Mishael, and Hannaniah. They gave to God what was God's, and to Caesar what was Caesars. What if you are like those who rebelled against Jerimiah's words, just seeking after your own comforts and scared for your flesh? Part of God's law is Roman's 13, in regards to how we conduct ourselves in society. It stops Christian's from, say, trying to conquer. Thinking they do it for a righteous cause when really it is just rebellion.

@@ezrajeremiah8631 _"What if you are like those who rebelled against Jerimiah's words, just seeking after your own comforts and scared for your flesh?"_ Ok, maybe. What if that applies to you? Maybe you let the seeming comfort and safety of obedience to tyrants override the hard job of obedience to God? If we are going to question motives, let's fully examine all sides. _"It stops Christian's from, say, trying to conquer."_ Yeah, but that is outside of what is being discussed. We conquer the world not through swords made of metal, but through the gospel, the sword that proceeds from the mouth of Christ. But in a US context, we are the magistrates of this nation, and God put a responsibility on magistrates to bear the sword. There is a time to kill and a time for war, as God's word says. Maybe Christians who submit to the tyrants over God are not willing to prayerfully consider what is really called for in these times where we have foolishly conceded ground to antichrists instead of standing firm for God's word, and that it doesn't require conquering a nation with violence to actually enforce the laws we already have.

@@nerychristian Alas, it doesn't do that at all, with your god being truly incompetent in the leaders it chooses for its people.
