Dr HC Verma is talking about the book Resnick Halliday and how it has been destroyed by they people in recent times. The book was a complete package to understand the concepts of physics but in order to make it palatable for Indian students and to market it as a competitive exam book, especially for the JEE mains and the JEE advance exam.

I read Resnick Halliday in my 11th. That book has better explanation than what most of the teachers taught us. I still have it with me.

It is a damn good book. No Indian author has written anyting like ot so far. Our focus is to pass "some exam" rather than to learn science.

@@tanmayabiswal4396 I will try after my term paper. The funniest part is, I went for life sciences, but the language of Resnick Halliday was so beautiful, I kept it with me.

Halliday, Resnick and Krane is the best introductory calculus based physics textbook to ever exist... The theory in HCV is negligible... Just read a chapter or two from both the books and you'll know the difference!

HCV just gives you problems, doesn't explain theory in detail I used Haliday Resnick , UNIVERSITY physics by Sears Zemansky and NCERT for theory when I prepared around 18 yetas ago. Hc Verma for problems, mainly in mechanics . Irodov for select problems and DC Pandey for electromagnetism and optics

@@rakeshkchauhan the one where you use calculus 🤣... Algebra based physics mein you don't derive core results of Mechanics/Thermodynamics/Electrodynamics etc from scratch because they are derived using calculus

Resnik Halliday and Walker ko padhne ke liye uska student manual ke saath padhna chahiye. Ye book competition ke liye hai hi nahin. Isko padhkar ek physicist bana ja sakta hai. Is kitab mein inductive approach of learning hai aur yahi iski khoobi hai.

I liked the days when in my coaching a new chapter was about to start and during the ongoing of it, i would read resnick haliday along with it, voh din ekdum epic the... now before 2 weeks of jee advanced im just solving problems and understanding approaches, which just kills the fun.. what ur saying is 100% right

Verma sir is speaking less and you tuber is speaking more, whereas I had opened this video to listen to Verma sir. When I studied Physics from Resnic and Halliday, in 1975, it was a very small size book, and photos in black and white , Xerox type photos.

i have resnik halidy book of two volumes and their front covers are half black and half orange.Each volumes has cost of rs110. during my 12th class i did not understand single page except resonance and bridge collapsing rest was a favourite book of mine for inducing sleep .

For the kids preparing for JEE, let me give you a very quick sunmary. NCERT is trash. Use it only for boards. HC Verma is good for fundamental understanding and getting an idea of complex as well as highly conceptual problems. Supplement it with DC Pandey. If you're excited about physics, do some sections of Irodov. Forget Resnick & Halliday. If you need to create a love for physics, only then read it. Now coming to those who are comparing the books and saying HC verma is trash, let me explain what he means. Resnick was written more than 70 years ago, when India had no exposure to the things mentionwd in those books. For example, the chapter on energy has an analogy of bungee jumping. Indians at that time had no idea what it was. Today we know it. 10-20 years ago, there was no substitute for HCV physics.

The hell, I’d choose resnick Halliday anyday over hcv. That’s what works for me tho. Have you even read electrodynamics from resnick Halliday? It’s much more better than hcv that’s what I feel personally

@@_slvya1647 if you wish to appreciate physics and generate interest, go for Resnick anyday. It's the best in the subject. But if you wish to crack JEE, it's not the book. I've read the entire Resnick from cover to cover, even the part on semiconductors and subatomic particles. There's no comparison. But HCV is important for JEE. It might seem straightforward but is very important. Why do you think generations of IITians have recommended this book over others.

@@_slvya1647 that's their headache where they end up. What matters is whether you clear the exam or not. I've seen people who used to solve Irodov and read Feynman lectures. Yes, they looked cool. But none of them cleared the exam. The ones who took the simple but hardworking route were the ones who cleared. Resnick gives you the starting point where you need to have an idea of setting up a solution. DC Pandey gives you the mathematical edge on solving complicated problems. HC Verma is the extremely important bridge between the two. For starters, neither Resnick nor DC Pandey tell you the relation between charge density and curvature on a irregular surface. HCV gives you the tools to figure it out.

I always used to read Resnick Halliday Walker first. The basics, narration and thought process used to be fantastic. Then, Come to HC Verma ji book for alternate explanations and problems. I used to refer to University physics by Seers and Jeemansky for few chapters..
