Resonator Delete 3.5 Ecoboost. BEST Ecoboost Exhaust Mod for $50

I just drove my 2019 - 2.7 ecoboost into my nephew's muffler shop yesterday. I was going to do a resonator delete. At the last second I was worried I wouldn't be happy with it - so I changed my mind and we did a muffler delete instead. I couldn't be happier. It sounds absolutely perfect. Only way it could sound better is if it had 2 more cylinders and was a coyote with twin turbo's - but I don't want to feed a coyote. Mind you - I'm 60 years old and did not in any way want it too loud. I had glasspacks when I was a kid and did not want it even close to that loud. I drive 80 miles round trip highways to work and back. I couldn't be happier with the sound now. If it was a 3.5 ecoboost - it might be too loud without a muffler though.

Steve Steve hey, nothing on exhaust decreases MPG... well, it can if you floor it all the time to hear it. Lol... but going up on tire size is the only mod that will greatly lower mpg.

I cut out Rez and added a big 5” tip, huge improvement! Add a better tip for the deep tone. Then I cu out muffler and it was awesome! My issue is the droning in cabin. A little with Rez delete at 70, and then worse with muffler delete. Honestly, wasn’t a big deal but I have a wife and kid... lol & her family was 9-12 hrs away... that was rough! Lol if I was single and didn’t hit the interstate much, I would go with the full deal, cut out Rez & muffler with the large tip! If you add a AFE intake ( take out the baffles in the stock intakes) and then cent blow off to atmosphere ( easiest cheapest mod available) you truck will sound exactly like a diesel... and blow the ear drums off people when you pass them!!! Lol

I have a 4" WWP exhaust from eBay on my truck (it's an MBRP knockoff). I welded a 4" resonator in it before I installed it because I was afraid it would be loud. I love it. It's quiet on the highway & around town, but when you stand on it it has a deep tone.

I've got a 2019 with the 3.5. I havnt done exhaust mods yet but I did a cold air intake. It really helped my turbos spool quicker and whistle a little louder. It's more fun to drive for sure. next will be a tune.

I took my 3.5L eco boost to the exhaust shop and had it straight piped from the catalytic converters all the way back with 3” pipe. I love it and love the sound of the turbo

You have to get it through your head, the Ford muffler is not restricting. YOU NEED TO GO TO 3in all the way. Resonater delit only increases the sound. There’s no preference increase, it’s stright through. It’s only there to quiet the sound.

I got a 2016 f150 with the 3.5 N/A and I did just a muffler delete and side pipe in front of the wheel. It was loud and had a great pop, but it had a high pitch. I went to an auto parts store and got a glass pack end pipe and it made it sound great!

@@TheKwiggins about 470. just google MBRP 3 inch and you can choose from installer series up to XP series. installer being the cheapest cause of the aluminized steel. XP made from stainless steel so it is a little more.

It would sound a little more throaty with a 6 inch tip as long as you cut back the factory 3 inch pipe to the beginning of the New exhaust tip.

I’m actually at a shop now to get all mine fixed back up. I have a 2011 xlt 3.5 ecoboost, right now I have it straight piped the cats started stopping up so I cut em out and straight pipe the whole thing. I’m actually getting some new cats back under it and going with a super 10 flowmaster dual pipe with 4” tips dualed out so we will se how it goes and sounds.

Did me dirty with the intro Q LOL Anyway I do think it sounds very nice compared to start. Maybe like 10% louder than stock. Stock is just really quiet but this brings out a little bit of that turbo whistle and some rumble. I think I'm going to do this to mine, just cause I don't want no exhaust noise or drone on the daily. That's what my turbo miata is for :D

Sifu 70 i have 2015 2.7 and I used to delete the resonator and change the stock muffler to Flowmaster and it’s super loud from inside the car. So I recommend you to delete just the Resonator not muffler.

Since you haven’t found an exhaust I highly recommend you check out the borla ATAK exhaust. I’m purchasing that for my eco boost by far the best one, full cat back stainless 1200$ it sounds like a mini diesel

Are those Ridge Grapplers? Stuck on deciding between those and KO2's. Definitely want something that's quieter on the highway.

Just noticed that rapid turn signal flash. did you upgrade to LED lights? Have you used Forscan? You can fix that hyper flashing issue when you switch out the bulbs pretty easy.

I did upgrade but now I’m back to stock. Have parts for forscan but haven’t installed yet

Because of the hyper flash mainly. Others the others were definitely brighter

@@KickinItWithQ Yea man my XLT came with Halogen lamps and the LED made a big difference. Like you I was about to snatch them out until I fired up forscan and hit a few videos on how to fix.

I have the flowmaster fx with the dual side next too the step and it sounds good in cold starts and when you step on it I would recommend it

Chuy C just heard a 2.7 yesterday with the flow masters 40 series and cold start sound like a V8. I was shocked

Yea I’ve heard it before. I think it does a really good job of giving a Diesel like sound. But it still doesn’t compare to the the V8 rumble.

Mannnn truck is fast as hell now 😂. MPT claims +100hp and almost same amount in torque for the 3.5 Ecoboost. For V8 and 2.7 those numbers are lesser

Switch Addiction Definitely look into videos of the V8 with the resonator delete. Tires are nitto ridge grapplers. Rims are Mayhem Warriors 8015

Have you checked out a complete bolt mbrp systems? I'm currently running the bolt on flowmaster outlaw on my 2018 f150. It's pretty loud but I like mine to to in your face load lol

@@KickinItWithQ i have the 3.5 ecoboost. American trucks sells the bolt on kit from the down pipe back. Plus there kit gives you the choice of out at a 45° or straight out the back

Also take off the hose to your blow off valve and plug it if u want to do it just look it up on you tube it’s pretty munch a $3 mod look up (vta mod) and what ever year you’re truck is when u let off it give a pshhh sound gives especially the civic guys big eyes when u do it
