are there any activities to do at the resort or around? or is mainly just to lay on the beach and chill kind of place. Also, how is the food?

Hello, There is MUCH to do on the grounds of the hotel as well as in the region. For starters, The Fives offers daily and nightly live entertainment, plus scuba diving lessons in the pool. At the time of our visit (though things may have changed since then) there were afternoon Zumba lessons by the beachfront infinity pool. At the Catina 1910 bar, there are tequila tasting sessions, Mariachi bands, and sing-alongs. Plus, there are spa services, both at the spa and at the beach for massages, and there is a small plaza area with several little boutique shops. And yes, the food is very good. La Brasserie was closed for renovations during our visit so we can't speak to that restaurant in particular, but the rest were excellent. In particular, Arezzo for Italian cuisine was amazing, plus it has a nice view. Even the buffet called Flavours was good, especially for breakfast. This resort is geared to 'the senses' so gourmet cuisine is something they do well. Even room service was good! One member of our party became ill during our stay and was having trouble eating, so the kitchen went above and beyond the call of duty by making a special chicken soup (not on the menu) and sending to the suite via room service. The Fives is located near Playa del Carmen (in the Riviera Maya region) so there are many attractions and activities that are accessible off the resort, including exploring Mayan ruins, swimming in cenotes, golf, exploring downtown Playa Del Carmen, snorkeling, swimming with whale sharks (depending on what time of year you go) or with turtles, boat cruises, horseback rides and more. Yes, Starbucks is still located in the Plaza and is open during the day. Please note, it is not part of the all-inclusive package so you must purchase drinks and pastries.

If you are in a suite that has a Jacuzzi, such as a Sky Suite (where the Jacuzzi is on the rooftop patio), you are allowed to use it at any time, day or night. Jacuzzis in The Vassa Spa are available only during spa hours.

Could this be a recent addition under new management? Please indicate what you are referring to. Just fyi, there are 3 different properties owned by The Fives in this area - The Fives Ocean Front (Puerto Morales), The Fives Downtown (Playa Del Carmen), and The Fives Beach (as shown in this video). To our knowledge, The Fives Beach does not feature hot tubs by the beach and any amenities in that area (pool, bar, activities, massage tables, etc) close at dusk.

@@kamo8026 Unfortunately, those are not hot tubs, they are seating areas for a small group of people that wish to sit together in the pool. Yes, the cenote is accessible via a bridge that crosses through the middle and joins one side of the resort to the other. However, it is not a swimmable cenote (the resort prohibits it) due to overgrowth and wildlife such as monkeys, snakes, a few small wild boars. Is this an all inclusive resort ?

All-inclusive packages are available when booking The Fives. However, considering many suites have kitchen facilities and some suites are rentable residences, European plans are also available. A European plan means you book the hotel room only and then pay for each on-site meal/drink seperately, or you have the option of eating off the property. You could also cook your own meals in the full-size in-suite kitchen.
