Hi John, I understand that the trooper who won the Elizabeth Cup this year, has become a Lance Corporal. This is wonderful news and not surprising considering what a fine trooper he’s been! My question is where is the mount ( the marvelous “Monty”) he won the Elizabeth Cup with? Is Monty retired or doing other duties? I ask because Monty is one of my absolute favorites. 😊

Bowing is a common way for Japanese people to show respect to others. Unfortunately, the younger generation doesn't bow as much as they used to. She is a wonderful person. I want to remember to show respect and gratitude to the right people too.

I have been somewhat captivated watching lately. What are the names of the posts manned? I have heard Gateman, corporal of Horse . As former military, just curious

Boxmen are the two mounted Troopers at the front , gatesman is the post next to the Guards Shop he/she comes to the front gates to check on the boxmen and may also go to the tunnel overlooking the Parade ground as well , chitsman stands guard next to the stables and doesn't leave the post . To his right is a door leading underground to what used to be a cockfighting pit so originally he was " chicksman . They are Troopers equivalent to Private , Corporal of Horse is an NCO equivalent to Sergeant in other regiments . The Household Cavalry have their own rankings . There are 10 Troopers and 2 NCO's on duty usually . You can look up The Household Cavalry for more information .

Just to remind You why the MOD , Ministry of Defence police are there , for security antiterrorism and public safety on a military property ! Crowd control at change over times which is for public safety ! What makes you think they aren't keeping an eye on everything and everyone , there are cameras all over the property with observers watching them constantly and passing information on to the MOD officers ! Horse Guards is a military property which is why they are fully armed , not to protect the soldiers but the area and the general public !
