I was born in the historic center of Rome; this beautiful music captures the spirit and atmosphere of places that I have known very well since my childhood. If you want to get married, get married in a beautiful Roman church, if you want to have a short holiday, don't go with guided tours, but go wandering around the city on your own. Go early in the morning on the beautiful Aventine Hill to the Giardino degli Aranci, next to the ancient church of Santa Sabina, or in the evening, on foot, along a stretch of the Appia Antica, or even to the endless catacombs of San Sebastiano or on days of full visibility on the Janiculum hill from which a glance extends over the entire city, beautiful and fascinating and so on. I'll stop here and wish everyone a beautiful, unforgettable holiday in Rome. Thank you Maestro Respighi!

It was in Rome where I'have celebrated my 18th birthday in 1983. Since then la città di Roma is deep in my heart and everytime when I return to Rome it's a feeling like coming home. A unique history, great architecture, marvellous food and so friendly inhabitants. I hope to visit your hometown soon again. Meanwhile this superb music of Respighi, describing Fontane and Pini di Roma as well as Feste Romane lets me dream from Roma Eterna! Be proud of your city, it really deserves it. Grazie tante à Roma und my very best wishes to you from Christian from Germany ❤🇮🇹❤

@vitellia72992 жыл бұрын

This is less of an orchestral showpiece than the "Pines", but it's a great work also, and always good to hear - and to see here in this fine performance by the FRSO.
@JeanPaul-Hol652 жыл бұрын
I don’t agree at all that "Fontane" is inferior to "Pini": they are two absolute masterpieces, both have their own specific sound and their stylistic perfection.
@ronaldbwoodall26282 жыл бұрын
@@JeanPaul-Hol65 I didn't really say that "Fountains" was an inferior work; your phrase "...their own specific sound..." is all I meant by way of description when I used the phrase "...less of an orchestral showpiece..." I agree that they're both masterpieces, though perhaps you might concede that they're only minor ones (?)

This is my favorite overall. I like parts of Pines, but all of Fountains. If Pines is a 'U", then Fountains is an upside down "U". Also Fountains has the B. TBN excerpt :D
