Respighi 'The Pines of the Appian Way' - Stokowski conducts the Philadelphia Orchestra (1960)

I am a 65-year-old Japanese , but I have been listening to Stokowski's music since I was 12 years old, and I have been fascinated by it. This 1960 Respighi concert was the first time in 20 years that I heard it. Once again, I was very impressed. Of all his Respighi performances, this live performance in Philadelphia is the best! I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mr./Ms. for uploading his precious Stokowski videos and sound sources to this KZbin. We look forward to more uploads of Stokowski's performances in the future.

A 6CD set has recently been released by ICA Classics which features Stokowski in a selection of BBC broadcasts from the 1960s-70s. It has already been described by the 'Gramophone' critic Rob Cowan as "a wonderful set" and it features major symphonies by Mahler, Shostakovich, Vaughan Williams, Berlioz, Beethoven, Brahms and Franck, as well as many shorter works.
