I just had an infant patient (not intubated) where when I listened to their lung sounds I heard inspiration in three broken up clear inhales (like the same intake noise but with 2 milliseconds long pauses between the sound) and a wheeze on exhale. I was wondering if I did the assessment wrong, if such lung sounds are normal, or if not what does it indicate? (I am an EMT so I have only been trained to listen for rhales, rhonci, crackles, wheezing, or stridor )
