I’m so thankful I had Christian parents. They disciplined me with love. Some of my friends/ acquaintances had mean and cruel parents. On today's topic about punishment, I struggled with how we measure sin and punishment. All sin has its consequences. Some, however, have committed atrocities and are punishable by God and often times the law of the land. And other sins are committed on our own person in the privacy of our own lives. I find it hard to believe that God would punish us in the same way that He would punish a person or people who have committed sins involving innocent children, animals and unsuspecting adults. I believe our God is a just God . Who knows us better then we know ourselves. He is a God of grace and mercy. When He forgives us, we in turn have to forgive ourselves. When we don't forgive ourselves, then we are playing God, because in a sense what we are stating is that we are greater then the I Am and forgiveness is not warranted. I believe every punishment is measured by the sin. I thank God with every fiber of my being for His grace so lovingly given to each and everyone of us. Heavenly Father God thank You for Your grace that forgives our every sin, and your chastisement when we have done wrong and Your mercy when we have trouble showing mercy to ourselves. Hello believers. I am currently undergoing Gods discipline and it is SO so painful. My heart is fattened and so heavy. My guilt and my shame will not leave me. I’m bed ridden, jobless, and lost. Please pray for Gods mercy strength and restoration for me. That I would come out of this holy, clean, and glad. To be honest even typing that feels like a foreign concept and bittersweet because of my current situation. Walking in darkness is so awful :( I have confessed my sins to God and others, and even have gone to counseling on and off for 9 years without much help. No one until recently has told me that I’m experiencing Gods discipline for my actions until recently. I saw a disconnect in the God talked about in church and on my heart and the Bible and his heavy hand has been on me. It has been so lonely and terrifying not knowing or being able to see and understand. I can only cling to Gods mercy and hope because of Jesus, and simply because his word says discipline is because of love. It certainly has not felt that way but that’s what faith is. Having confidence of the unseen. My faith is weak right now and I’m afraid of the valley I’ve been in but would love your prayers to help me through it. Thanks

Heavenly Father, Thank You for being near to all of us who call on You in truth. We ask that You draw nearer to us as we draw closer to You. Increase our strength and faith today. Help us to know more of what Your Word says so that we can have faith that moves mountains and overcome anything that gets in our way. We realize You are a God who can do the impossible, so we ask that You do great and mighty things in our lives. Forgive us for all the times we had a lack of faith. Please help us to be strong and not be moved by any adversity. Help us to pray more fervently, especially when we don't hear an answer to our prayers. Our God is a God of love but also a God of wrath when the situation calls for it, and with sin His wrath is always waiting around the corner at some point. LISTEN VERY CAREFULLY.... God WILL discipline, punish, correct every single sin we commit. With confession we can be forgiven but confession is not a 'get out of jail free' card. There are ALWAYS consequences to sin. Often, though not always, the troubles we face in life, the suffering that comes our way, the times that God seems distant, are a result of our sin. God is holy. His purpose is to make us holy and Christlike. As today's devotion points out, "Divine discipline is corrective; the Lord uses difficult trials and painful circumstances to turn us away from unholy practices and to teach us the way of godliness." We need not try to dish out some excuse to the Lord that just will not fly. We must take responsibility for our actions, acknowledge our faults, and as today's devotion also points out, take God's correction SERIOUSLY (emphasis mine). When we slip and fall in sin we WILL be dealt a blow. We just need to confess, accept, brush ourselves off, get back up, and follow Jesus back down the path of righteousness. With His help victory can be ours. I will take a moment here and confess a fault of mine. I view KZbin a lot and I don't always move my eyes quickly enough away from some of the provocative material that I'm fed. Or in other words I have a problem at times with lust. Have I clicked onto pornography? No, but it has tried to get my attention. So there you go!! I'm not perfect. Have a wonderful Monday brothers and sisters. May God give us the strength we need in all areas of our lives to get through this day. ✝️🌈❤️

BIBLE Unless you repent you will all likewise perish A Call to Repentance 13 About this time Jesus was informed that Pilate had murdered some people from Galilee as they were offering sacrifices at the Temple. 2 “Do you think those Galileans were worse sinners than all the other people from Galilee?” Jesus asked. “Is that why they suffered? 3 Not at all! And you will perish, too, unless you repent of your sins and turn to God. 4 And what about the eighteen people who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them? Were they the worst sinners in Jerusalem? 5 No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will perish, too.” Luke 13:1-5 NLT Many ask why God would allow diseases, disasters and tragedies -- even such a disease as the coronavirus which has infected thousands and thousands -- which cause many to die. As a sinful human being with a very limited understanding of the ways of God, I will not presume to speak on His behalf and try, as some have done, to explain God's reasonings for permitting such things to occur. I will, however, let God speak for Himself if any care to listen. Death itself is a part of the curse brought upon this world and all of us because of our sin and disobedience to God's commandments. After our first parents, Adam and Eve, sinned in the Garden of Eden, God told Adam, "In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust you shall return" (Gen. 3:19). Moses, in Psalm 90:7-10, says, "For we have been consumed by Your anger, and by Your wrath we are terrified. You have set our iniquities before You, our secret sins in the light of Your countenance. For all our days have passed away in Your wrath; we finish our years like a sigh. The days of our lives are seventy years; and if by reason of strength they are eighty years, yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away." In Luke 13, Jesus was told of certain Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. Jesus asked, "Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans because they suffered such things? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish." Applying Jesus' words to those who have suffered or even died from disease or tragedy, were these people worse sinners than others, including us, who have, at least not yet, suffered such tragedy? Jesus said, "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish." In 2 Peter 3, the Bible speaks of God's final judgment upon this earth, and we learn why it has not yet occurred. Verse 9 explains: "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." The reason God allows this sin-filled world to go on a little longer despite the evil in it, and the reason God allows us to live on a little longer in this world in spite of our sinfulness, is because He does not desire our eternal condemnation but that we repent and look to Him for mercy and forgiveness in the crucified and risen Christ Jesus. And, think about it! Tragedy and disease could also strike right here at home. We cannot claim we are any less guilty of sin. We certainly deserve God's wrath and punishment for the millions of unborn we have killed and continue to kill, for disregarding the teaching of God's Word regarding marriage and God's creation of male and female, for failing to teach our children to know the Lord God of the Bible and to trust in Him, and for all our own individual disobedience and sin against His commandments. The only reason God has not already judged and condemned us is that He "is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." Psalm 90 goes on to say, "So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom" (v. 12). So, perhaps -- no, most definitely -- we ought to use the remaining time God has given us in this world to consider what He has told us in the Bible, to repent of the sin and evil in our lives and to seek the forgiveness God offers and promises to us through faith in the holy life and the innocent suffering and death of His Son! O merciful God, forgive my disobedience and sin for the sake of Christ Jesus and His atoning sacrifice on the cross for the sins of all and teach me to walk in Your ways and live for You in accord with Your holy Word. Amen.
