Nice video. Do you ever find the actual Nexiton display response time is less than desirable when using crop images?

We use a RaspBerry Pi with a 10" display and Tcl/Tk scripting language for our machines (unfortunately no injection molding machine, but we are working hard on it :-) . There you can create your GUI interactively, too. And have all the benefits of a real PC (Linux/WLAN/BT ...). But its always good to have a look over the cup rim - interesting system 🙂 BTW: it is interesting that many people use 7 segments digits which were invented by the lack of pixel screens. Normal TTF font numbers are far better to read. But I also like these old displays ;-)

Sure, I could have used a Raspberry Pi and others have done just that. I've done plenty of desktop UI work running on Windows. For this project I wanted to use an embedded solution as they're super reliable and turn on pretty much instantly (and you don't have to shut them down before powering off). Those aren't very strong reasons, but it's what I wanted to do. As to the 7-segment display, I know. But it's fun. And this is a hobby project...

@@JohnSL Thanks for your answer, John One remark regarding the starting and shutdown times of the RaspPi: You can prepare it to be ready for "hard shutdown" if you enable direct syncing (and turn off the swap, of course). I have done this for some Pis of my machines (CNC etc.). Starting time here shouldn't be a problem here due to the long preheating delay of the machine ;-) But yeah, it's hobby and it's interesting to see other solutions.
