I love how all streamers are super-triggered by this post (rightfully so). It does radiate insane low-elo energy. Also, I am pretty sure that most Riven players don't actually have to use the mechanic to utilize her kit and win games. If we look at the players that AloisNL coaches (Mr. Fundamentals), not all of them do it. While they still body their opponent with the laneing advice given by coaches (live). If you can't find success on the Riven pick it is probably not because you can't do the fast Riven Q. Edit: due to multiple people pointing out I am a low elo shitter and lack the awareness to see AloisNL is fast Qing. I have looked at several of his coaching VODS. I have found that the statement is still consistent with reality. But not with Alois as the primary example but with the clients he is coaching. Anyways being good at league of Legends the game is much more important than funny League mechanic as @TheBritishPoro aptly points out in his video.

Alois is always fast comboing. People think Alois is lacking mechanically because he's extraordinarily humble and compares himself to people like Built. He's cracked. Yes his fundamentals are insane, but he wouldn't be challenger playing Riven if he wasn't insane mechanically.

@@beertje6394he always does it, like every other riven main, you don’t realize since he does it subconsciously without telling his audience “I just did the fast Q”. You probably have the wrong idea on what fast Q even is and how difficult it is to do. in fact, you won’t be able to find a single riven main that can’t do it.

@@nsum2885 It is also really hard to spot because Alois uses attack-move behind his target, so he doesn't actually move his cursor around like some other riven players. I thought u had to click behind the riven for fast Q. But yeah I think that is why this topic could be confusing. because when some Eastern Riven players do it by clicking behind the Riven, it looks way flashier than others. But also the point stands. I have seen him coach players on Riven who definitely don't do it. And they still stomp lane with fundamentals.

@@beertje6394 you simply don't notice it. If he isn't doing it, it's for a specific reason. There are times where you aren't necessarily looking to fast q. But his mechanics on Riven are cracked and anytime he is fighting and it's best to fast q, he's doing it without hesitation.

I totally agree, if they want to make new champions that are easy to play and understand like Naffiri, I don't really mind. But removing mechanics from established champions to make them "more accessible" is a crime. Almost feels like a personal attack.

It's so fun how people talk about "starcraft difficulty" when they're talking about Riven Q, I just want to say they never even install Starcraft, you need way way way more APM to play SC2 at a good level and during a way longer time, those guys are just armless monkeys.

The thing that tilts me is the fact that even if riot was to remove riven's mechanics these people would just play her a couple of times in normals and then just go back to playing what they are used to, straight up ruin a champion for some people because they want to try her (but not really main her) but are scared to do so

I agree with you and i wanna add something further. Ive coached ~1800 sessions by now, tons of then top and riven, and ive met plenty of students in emerald/platinum who actually do the fast Q perfectly every time but they are really bad at every other league fundamental. So the poster is even more wrong than you think. Hell if you want i can send you a vod of me coaching an emerald4 riven that does it perfectly but hes otherwise bad at other things.

I dont think a pro is going to need a week to learn the fast Q, i picked her up 2 summers ago for fun and i picked up the fast Q in 20 minutes, the difficulty came with the muscle memory aspect of using it in fights correctly, thats all. Mechanically though its not hard. Also pro players are way better than me so im sure they can start getting the hang of it even in game much faster than me.

13:58 Riven isn’t actually 51% wr you are using the data incorrectly. You have to subtract the average winrate at the top right from her winrate. It would end up being a high 49% wr which is bad, but it’s not bad bc of fast Q, it’s bad bc riven is underpowered atm from the durability patch + anti snowball changes. She had a consistent 51.5% wr in this elo prior the durability patch with more than 2x her current pick rate. Her masters+ wr is also low at a high 49% as well. Riven just needs a meaningful buff and her players will come back. Also more than only 5% players are doing fastQ correctly. It’s not 2013 anymore. Fast Q is so mainstreamed that even silver riven mains can properly do it today.

The most sickening part is that riot actively balances around these idiots. It's literally why the game is so terrible and unskilled nowadays; when the entirety of the current game is designed around the unskilled, the game... Craziest thing is, Riven mains try paint thier champ as a super high skill champ then complain about her being 49% win ratio for the first time in months, when every other 'high skill' champ is basically about balanced at 45% win ratio, after she got buffed to like 52% win ratio last year, her pick rate doubled and then all her players just got elo inflated and fell down to about average win rate as they faced better players. Literally one of the most disgusting mega broken champs in the entire game if you believe she's actually difficult to play. Thank god for cock solid.

Riven isn’t the same as akali, ksante, yone/yasuo, azir. She is most similar to katarina. All these champs are high skill, but none of them are played solely by mains/otps as katarina and riven. Being heavily otp skewed inflates winrate drastically. Not to mention kat and riven see no proplay. Azir is heavily pro play skewed and not many otps, akali is pro play skewed and similar to yone , and yasuo have a ton of casuals playing them. Riven and kat are kept at high winrates because of this.

@@nsum2885 right, that's why when she got buffed for absolutely no reason last her play rate over doubled and her win rate climbed by like 3%. Because she's difficult and only played by otps like all the players first timing her to absurd win rates. Fact of the matter is, she giga stomps a large amount of match ups and has skill match ups with a very limited number of champs who happen to also be fan favourites. She's just meta dependent, the other women get buffed and she looks worse. That's a thing of other champs being too good, not Riven being bad. Play vs her on Sion and she'll feel like the most brain dead piece of shit in the game.
