Can confirm the lack of a soul that the Berrics has now. I was there from the start of the Berrics. I used to watch every single clip when it released. The Buttery Ass Mondays, the Bangin' clips, the Battle Commanders. Every skater I knew were always talking about it. Fast forward to today after I took a 7 year hiatus from skateboarding and I don't even recognize the site anymore and can't get motivated to view much of the content. Keep up the criticism as it is completely warranted. Hopefully they can at least try to hide the fact that it all comes down to money and get back to the core of the success of the site, the skateboarding....

Spot on analysis in my opinion. I literally feel the exact same way about the berrics as youve described, and i think your breakdown of the comment was perfectly accurate. I still watch BATB but its not with the same feelings. I go in expecting to be let down by multiple factors. The skating skill of most games is sad. I should never feel like i could have won a game if it were me playing. And the judging has totally lost any credibility. 2 games now where a trick was popped for offence and slid for defense. The 1st got a rematch and the 2nd was so miserable the dude got to skate flat alone to redeem himself, and still sucked. I just lost my ACL for life 2 months ago, and skate videos and games are how im coping with never skating again. To see Berra defend both those games, let alone create the "influencers" bracket, makes me angry. I learned tricks by watching BATB growing up, and now i can hardly watch it to help cope with never pushing wood again. He could at least say, "i know some of these matches are sub-par to what we normally put out, but theres a lot of games to be played this year, so theres a lot of 'weeding out the weak' to be had. Bare with us."
