Since sharing the video talking about my Cotard's Delusion, I have had many people contacting me and asking various questions. The most asked question is "What did I do to get better?"
I figured I would try and answer this question in as much detail on here in this video instead, and generate more of a conversation in this space, rather than in my personal inbox.
I believe talking about these things openly and in the view of others is the best way to encourage others to come out and talk about their current state of mental health too. To see others going through the same struggles, and everyone at different stages, is a powerful element in allowing us to get through these things together.
As always, please comment or message if you are so moved.
You are welcome here.

Ola 🙌 I was struggling with my own mental health the past week or 2, I was not aware that you had a KZbin channel until I randomly stumbled across it when I was going through my worst period last week: it is funny how the universe works sometimes 🙏 I just wanted to let you know that your videos have helped me so much the past week and given me a lot of strength and I wanted let you know how how grateful I am for this. Thank you Max, you are a warrior! Hopefully, see you in Ireland again at end of May. Cheers Maurice 🕉🤗

Hey Maurice, Oh, this is so lovely to read. Thank you for your comment, it really does mean a lot ☺️ Unfortunately I am not at the retreat at the end of May! Looks like I will miss you this time. Until our paths cross again 🌞

Thank you, Maximus 🙏, uve helped me answer some of my questions. When u mentioned "if I am dead, whatever reality im in, make the most of it" it really expanded my mental template on how I could choose to view this delusion. Treating this as my second chance and making the most of it is a very inspiring message. It was also interesting to understand how to work within the liminal space of the thought and the delusion through mindfulness and meditation, which could gradually dissect the flaws. I do have one question, at the time how difficult was it for u to dispense with the delusion, did it change in intensity depending on ur mood, or were u completely bought into it?

I am glad I could share this with you 🙏🏻 I was completely in the delusion. All I can remember was getting high to be free from feeling it too much, but it was always there, preventing me from finding real joy in any moment. When I was sober, it closed in and it’s all there was and so nothing felt real. I’m sure there were moments in my life that would have distracted me for a moment but it was always waiting to pull me back in at any moment.

How do you get past the thought of people not being real & you’re trapped? That’s the thing I’m struggling with the most, thinking of my family grieving me in another space

Hey Jessica, There is no need to get past a thought. It is better to move away from thinking at all. The process going on inside of your head is like a fire, and its fuel are your thoughts. In the same way you cannot put out a fire with more fuel, you cannot sort out this internal process with more thoughts. We must learn to step away, and observe how over time, as we find distance, it grows smaller and smaller, until eventually it burns itself out. Currently, the process in your mind is draining your energy, and using your energy to have power over you. You must find a way to stop feeding it your energy, and realise that you have power over your mind. You are not your mind, you are that which uses the mind. You are not your thoughts, you are that which hears them. Be the witness, the observer. This is your centre. Behind it all. Sit and watch it all fall away. It takes time. So be patient.

Everyone is struggling but the difference is between us and them is we are honest about it. No one is perfect and anyone who thinks they are is simply delusional because there is no such thing. Thankyou for being your authentic true self and not feeling ashamed about your perceived flaws which is another illusion . Man made judgements made up by psychopaths not psychologists. Most therapists need a therapist. What we need is someone who will listen to us with a non judgemental open heart. ❤ 10:11 on the clock 🕰️ 111 Angel number divine timing ⏱️

Thank you for your comment. Absolutely, there is no shame here at all, simply an experience that was necessary for me to learn and grow into the man that I have now become. I am grateful for the challenges that were given to me because they have been my greatest teachers.
