Hi Steve! Was talking to a friend about the type 5 from Ressence,and you just posted this :) Just wanted to thank you for all your videos and reviews of some fantastic timepieces,you somewhat made them accesible for us "mortals" to view them up close. Thanks again for feeding my watch addiction,it`s always a pleasure. Keep it up!

Love Ressence innovative approach to horology. That's exactly what the mechanical watch industry needs to survive the smart watch threat.. Thanks Steve for sharing it.

Amazing piece! Simply stunning. I worked a bit on the One and the Type 3 back in the days and it was quite the technical hurdle to produce but always a marvel to see it working. Benoît is a real genius. Btw Ressence stands for "Renaissance de l'essentiel" -> "Rebirth of the essential". Can't wait to see what he comes up with next.

The dials and indications are on a flat plane. The oil between them and the glass makes them appear to be against the glass. That's the trick.

Sinn has a great series of oil filled dive watches for under $3K used by German special forces. I would never take a Ressence under the sea if i had one! I love the new gray one

The lume is astounding. I can a actually appreciate why it costs so much. If it's fluid filled it could be waterproof to great depths without usual casing strength?

The fact the "running indicator" works sort of like a second hand would drive me nuts.

Very cool watch. It's artwork and as such I wouldn't want to wear it around like I would a mechanical watch. I would be afraid of smashing that crystal and getting oil everywhere. It's one of those, "it's great until it's not" type of things.

it's price isn't so cool though lol

A subseconds dial would accomplish the exact same thing as a running indicator, but also provide actual utility and value to the wearer instead of a totally arbitrary and meaningless indicator.
@MatthewH20007 жыл бұрын
I agree. anyone know what was the reasoning for the running indicator instead of a sub-second dial? A very cool looking watch but that is strange...
@JohnMoore-rv4zm7 жыл бұрын
One needn't wait more than one second to know if a watch is running. I agree a sub-second dial is weirdly replaced by this less-than-reassuring lurch hand. Likewise, what you might expect to be a reserve indicator sub-dial is actually the watch's oil temp? "We better pull over in the shade, Tonto, the oil in my watch is getting hot!" Seriously?
