The restorers explaining what and why they do something is everything to me. I so appreciate their skill. Thank you for sharing this. L:107

Astonishing! How fabulous that a gallery PAID for this then donated to you. Bravo!

What a magnificent piece! But why no close-up, detailed view of it at the end? We go all the way with you & then you end with blurry distance shots. Disappointing!

This piece is very similar to one I had in my collection. If anything the one I had was somewhat older and has the same marvelous carving..mine however had a enormous freeform lion rampant forming each side,a woman's head/bust forming the end of each sleigh runner ...a woman's carved head on top of the back and a demon head on the bottom of the back...amazingly mine also had its original upholstery which was leather covering the seat and back .. unfortunately the one I had in my collection had some troubling paranormal activity connected to it and I ended up selling it to Anton Lavey founder of the church of Satan in San Francisco...which he told me he would use in the'church'. I can only wonder about it's history.
