Excellent restoration! I can remember Pride & Clarke motors of Brixton Hill, London, advertising these bikes in the Exchange & Mart trade magazine in the early 1960's. I nearly bought one but opted for an N.S.U. 250cc Max. You have 13 people who don't like this! They are either insanely jealous or just plain stupid!

@@eddy11071 Imperfections are human Eddy, I was looking at the floor in Rochester Cathedral, Kent, England, when I noticed that one of the Dragon cobbles in the floor, was upside down! I said to one one the Cathedral staff, "You've got one upside down! He said that it was done on purpose, as only God makes things perfect! That answer, was good enough for me! ;-)

@Mo Gordon I hate it when someone goes to the trouble of making a video like this and it gets thumbs down. But I doubt in this case it was out of jealousy or insanity. Maybe like me, they had owned the Moto Guzzi Zigolo 98. I got mine 2nd hand in 1968 when I was 16. It was my first bike and I was very excited particularly as I had it serviced by none other than the great Stanley Woods who lived nearby. But the bike was a poor example of the Guzzi make. It was gutless and outperformed by my young friends on their Yamaha 50s. The Guzzi had 3 gears, poor brakes, dreadful lights and a horn that sounded like a duck being strangled. I kept it till I was 18 and got a more powerful machine. But for all its faults, the Guzzi has a fond place in my heart because it was my first bike, because it got me to meet Stanley Woods and let's face it, that Guzzi red is gorgeous. I still remember its reg number 62 years later.

I had one of these in the 60's and it was much more reliable than the BSA bantam that it replaced! Four studs secured the cylinder head and no gasket was needed between head and engine. It was very cheap to run but didn't look much. Can't' t have everything though.

Permettersi una testa senza guarnizione è maestria ! Fosse solo quello : prima moto con cilindro cromato a miscela 2% , prima moto ad immissione tramite valvola rotante , prima moto a carrozzeria portante , ...record con il 98cc .....lo Zigolo è un gioiello di tecnologia meccanica per i suoi anni , 2T in linea ....una perla di casa Guzzi !!

Hello. Great restoration. I am busy with assembling of a Zigolo 110 engine, but I do not know where to buy a top end gasket. Or is this engine put together without such one? Or is the head just mounted using fluid sealant? Hope for answer. Kindest regards, Ole from Denmark.

Complimenti per il restauro. Fantastico!!. Potrei chiederti dove posso trovare il ricambio del fanale posteriore? Sto restaurando uno zigolo 98 ma trovo solo il fanale con bordo cromato. Me ne servirebbe uno simila al tuo. Grazie.

con un mezzo in questo stato, io avrei optato per una buona pulizia a fondo e un buon restauro conservativo del mezzo.

ma il zigolo aveva in originale, il bianco specchio sul serbatoio, lo avevamo anni 957/958 ricordo bene,anche il prezzo 125.000 milalire comperato a torino concess vicino porta susa,98 cc
