The only way Johnson could return if the Tory PP allowed his enough progress to return. Although a number of his sycophants remain in place, likely weakened. Johnson was always setup for a deep fall, due to the person he is. Nobody set him up. The opposition did little to push the fall. It could only have come from smashing enough bricks in the parliamentary blue wall, who had supported him, to allow himself to fall. It would be interesting to see if you could compare this episode to the events that led him to lose the London mayoral position. From what I understood at the time, from someone who worked at City Hall, he initially had support from much of the chamber, but then ideas became fantastical, interest waned, the local media spotlight on him took precedence over the work of City Hall, manoeuvring became increasingly spiteful between his supporters and enemies. He should never have been allowed near politics, due to the person he is. Politics is for the people, of whichever persuasion or interest. Allowing a narcissistic shark to swim in the pool, can only lead to disaster. This latest episode of Johnson should end for good. Not regurgitated back into media or politics ever again. Don’t buy his books. Don’t schedule interviews. Don’t give him a spotlight, however bright or wide.

A mass exodus of supporters saw the party's membership - which stood at 523,332 at the end of 2020 - fall to 432,213 by the close of 2021.17 Aug 2022"
