Film Trailer 2- RESTLESS HEART: The Confessions of Augustine.
Filmed in Europe, the first full-length feature movie on Augustine, it uses a historic backdrop to tell the true story of one of the Church's most beloved and well-known Saints. www.ignatius.co...
430 AD. The Roman Empire is beginning to crumble. The Vandals and other marauding tribes spill through the gaps in Roman defenses. And one of the greatest saints of the Christian church stands between his flock and the barbarian invaders. As he attempts to negotiate between the proud Roman authorities and the implacable Vandal king, Bishop Augustine recalls his own life before Christianity...
In this stirring and epic new film on the life of St. Augustine of Hippo, follow the great saint as he rises from his reckless days as a youth to his accomplishments as a renowned but dissolute orator. Though worldly success and riches come his way, including a position in the imperial court of Milan, satisfaction and peace elude him. It takes a confrontation with the Christian bishop Ambrose and the countless prayers offered by his patient mother, Monica, to break through his intellectual pride.
Starring Alessandro Preziosi, Monica Guerritore, Johannes Bandrup, and Franco Nero.
Coming Fall 2012. Find out more at www.RestlessHeartFilm.com

"The prayers of the saints that were passed on" = exactly what Catholics mean when we talk about "praying to the saints." The way we do it does not bypass Jesus anymore than when I ask you to pray for me. Please pray for me. Make sure you're arguing against what Catholics actually believe and not the straw man that I, too, was taught when I was Protestant. God bless you.

I have been a lapsed Catholic, struggling with many things for the most part. A few years ago I watched this movie and it changed my life forever, and I mean that by no exaggeration. I had many questions and doubts that played in the mind about God, myself and the value of my life. But there was something in this movie, especially at the conversion scene, that real spoke to me. And then like a light bulb, just like St Augustine, I realised that life isn't my project but God's. It is in letting go that we receive. “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you” And ever since then my life has had change in direction. By no means perfect, far from it actually. But one that is grounded on the acknowledgment of a being much much higher than anything we can imagine, the same being who has always been by my side, much to my prideful ignorance. I sincerely Thank the makers of this movie, for the effect it has had on me. And also Thank God for the great St Augustine, in whom I believe many of us can find some degree of resemblance. “Belatedly I loved thee, O Beauty so ancient and so new, belatedly I loved thee"

The end credits say English Voices Dubbed By; however, I cannot see any obvious signs of the actresses and actors speaking Italian with their voices being dubbed into English. In any case, Wikipedia states that the photoplay was filmed in English, and the Internet Movie Database page lists Italian and English as the languages.

People who are holy in the sight of God are saints (even before Jesus redeemed the world) (OT Ps 36:28); All the creatures of heaven who are with God are saints (Deut 33:2; Ps 89:5 kjv); Used for place? the sanctuary comprised of the innermost chamber of the Tabernacle in the temple of Solomon where the Ark of the Covenant was kept is called "sanctum sanctorum". "santos" or saints means holy. "saved one" falls short for the definition of "saint".

"Intercession may be prayer but prayer isn't always intercession"-Keap16. So you agreed now that intercession is a prayer? Your given definition below seems you didn't agree "When someone violates a law and they are about to be punished for it, someone else steps in and pleads for the punishment to not take place. that's intercession" -Keap16. It seems to me that intercession for you can only be done if someone is about to be punished. tsk tsk tsk. Anyway, thanks be to God for accepting it.

Part 2: Are we going to pray for those who commit a deadly sin? Let the Bible answer: "If you see your brother committing sin, a sin which does not lead to death, pray for him, and God will give life to your brother. I speak, of course, of the sin which does not lead to death. There is also a SIN THAT LEADS TO DEATH; I DO NOT SPEAK OF PRAYING ABOUT THIS" (1 Jn 5:16; emphasis mine) However Keap16 here is teaching us the other way. who is he? I think someone St. Paul is talking about in Gal 1:8.

Part 2: Are they not praying to Jesus in this scenario? Actually they did, by reading up to verse 14, you will know that these saints in heaven are actually praying to Jesus (bowing before him rev 5:8, singing songs Rev 5:9; praising Him Rev 5:12-13) saying unanimously, “Amen, while the elders bowed down and worshiped” (Rev 5:14) you missed that? And don’t you know that, in the Old Testament, the one who offered the incense is the one who is praying? (num 17:11-12; etc)

Part 1: You said “Praying and interceding are two different things. When someone violates a law and they are about to be punished for it, someone else steps in and pleads for the punishment to not take place. That is intercession". give the verse please! Nada? right? By the way Dan 8:13-17 is not intended to prove intercession but to prove your LIES that angels are not saints. We used the same meaning for prayer - "beseech/ask". Until Martin Luther created his own religion called Protestant, the true Christians, then, called themselves Catholics. If you trace back to Catholic's beginning, it will take you to Jesus Christ as the creator of the religion. If you trace back to Protestants' beginning, it will ends at Martin Luther as the creator. Please come back to the real church, the only church created 2 thousand years ago by Jesus Christ, not by erroneous, sinful humans.

But I find it amusing that you have no verse or verses for this definition? I thought that if we can't find it in the bible, we shouldn't believe, as you preach around here. Part 1: You make yourself a fool of your reasoning my friend. You read the bible that Angels are called saints. Why do you stressed that "saint" can only be used to the saved ones. The Bible clearly defines that it isn't. Or you may give me the verse that says that saint means saved ones. where is it in the pages of your bible? As far as the saint means holy, which is the catholic definition, then God is saint (1Pet 1:16; He is the source of all holiness) angels are saints (Dan 8:13)

They will give similar verses given by "Trinity" believers. The irony is that they too are "sola scriptura" believers like you. By the way, how a "sola scriptura" believer define Trinity in the bible? be reminded what you said "I don't need anyone to tell me whether or not the Trinity exists?" Didn't you received your faith from hearing? (Rom 10:17)

you are denying what you said "Only those who are saved by the grace of God are saints. No "angel" can ever be a saint because God has never provided salvation for an "angel""-Keap16. Dan. 8:13-17 shows that angels are SAINTS. understand? I just follow your argument on this. There's no harm for you if you just said I'm wrong but you refused to accept that you're wrong just like the devil who never humble himself even if he has the chance to.

"sola scriptura" is not supported in the bible therefore unbiblical; Becomes a human tradition inside the protestant circle which started/taught by Martin Luther. "Trinity" is a catholic thing taught and defended by our church fathers; "sola scriptura" churches are not unanimous on this doctrine. The word "Bible" is not a doctrine but a title given to the canonical compilation of scriptures (OT only for judaism, OT & NT for Christians).

That gives us a lot of difference. Listen, "sola scriptura" is not found in the bible either yet you believe it to be true even if this doctrine is man made and preached only by the protestant circles. The words "bible" and "Trinity" is not found in the bible yet i supposed you believe all these to be true. Intercession is intercession whether done by Christian who is already with our Lord in heaven or not. Intercession should be made by all Christians - Physically alive and/or Spiritually alive

part 1: We r in agreement that Jesus is interceding for us and that we have to pray to Him by all means. But this doesn’t mean that someone can't intercede to their fellow Christians (1Tim 2:1) why? Because All Christians belong to the same "household of faith" (Gal 6:10) and we r fellow citizens with the saints of the Household of God (Eph 2:19); we r members of one another (Eph 4:25); every member of the Body of Christ (of course include Saints and Angels in Heaven) needs every other member.

now you agreed that intercessions can be asked from anyone who is physically alive... :-) my query is "if you can asked for intercession from someone who is physically alive why can't you asked it from someone who is spiritually alive?" you are the one who is out of context, previously you don't believe in intercessions from other people (for you, they are just mere men) but when you get cornered by your own argument, you agreed. Let me explain. It's really very simple. Without Mary, Jesus is never born, and is thus never human. Without Jesus, Man and God, none of us are saved. Therefore, our salvation comes from Jesus, who Himself comes, in His humanity, from Mary (and in His Divinity, from God). She is the pivot of all salvation history, hence her veneration, which is not the same as worship (hence why they are different words). QED.

The Bible shows that intercession are actually lots of ways: by praying (asking/beseeching/imploring/begging) somone to pray for you (Rom. 15:30; Heb 13:8; 1Thes 5:25) or by praying to God to hear the prayer of somebody else (Eph 6:19; Col 4:4; 2Thes 3:1) or by praying to God for somebody else (phil 1:9; Col 1:9; 1Jn 5:16)

You are not reading your bible well. Abraham prayed to the angels "My lords, I pray you come...(Gen 19:2). Angels are holy right? holy means "saint". St. Paul is praying to the Corinthians saying "I pray you to follow my example" (1cor 4:16) furthermore praying to them again by saying "but you must help us with your prayers" (2 Cor 1:11).

Prayer means "asking." What is often called "praying to saints" ALWAYS means asking saints to pray for us. I ask you to pray for me, and I ask the closest friends of Christ, on Earth & in Heaven (Mt 22:32 - those in Heaven are more alive than we are), to pray for me. (Rev. 5:8 shows that the Saints in Heaven are continually offering the prayers of the saints on earth to the Father.)

Again, Oneness believers and other who don't believe in the devinity of Christ use the same verses. Above verses does not define "Trinity". Once again, I asked "How a "sola scriptura" define "Trinity"? or What is "Trinity" for a "sola scriptura" believer?

Just pointing out that not everything the Pope says is infallible. What you did was make a gross overstatement to belittle the faith; It was either a cheap way to command the argument or you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Actually, to be fair, when I looked on google images, there were a lot of paintings of them both being white. Truthfully, I don't think race ever entered the producers' minds. It is probable that the actors used were the best for the job.

Where or how can this be watched? I went to the home page, and there is nothing to show where, how, or when it can be viewed. I wish this full movie was on youtube. We need more education such as this, not the garbage mainstream Hollywood puts out.

Again, when will you ever learned that a preacher should be truthful in everything he preaches? The given verse is to prove the other mistake and lies you committed. That is when you preached that "Physically alive/spiritually alive saints are told to pray FOR other spiritually dead saints". A clear mistake that even the apostles never teaches (1Jn 5:16) "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema (Gal1:8)

I would like to clarify that I am not against your distinction between physically alive to physically dead. What I want to say is that we don’t ask for intercession from a “dead physical body” because it can’t pray anymore. On the other hand, In the Bible too, there are people who are still alive but spiritually dead (1Tim 5:6), to them, we can’t ask for intercession either. So, I still prefer to say that our Christian brothers/sisters who have gone to Jesus are spiritually alive…

Jesus was undoubtedly a Mediterranean Jew, of the same racial stock as Jews around the world today. As for Augustine, we simply don't have any positive proof of what his racial makeup was. No portraits of him survive, and people did not think in racial terms back then as we do today. Augustine was a Roman citizen, and the Roman world was a cosmopolitan place, with many races and ethnicities.

Part 1: You are short of your definition and understanding of intercession as far as the bible is concern. Intercession also means mediating the two parties (1Jn 2:1; Job 42:9). In mediating, one of your tasks is giving the message of one party to the other. In Rev 5:8, are the saints not mediating between the saints on earth and Jesus (the Lamb)? Are they not praying to Jesus in this scenario? Actually they did...

How can they (saints/angels in heaven) help us who are in need? By way of making intercessory prayers (Rev 5:8; 8:4). We ask them to offer our prayers to the Lord which we can find in the scriptures they are doing. Our Prayer to the Saints in Heaven is for them to pray for us (e.g. St. Augustine, pray for us). These prayers when they received it will be offered to the Lamb (Lord Jesus). The ancient Church understands that our communion with all our fellow Christians never ceases after death...

@ keap16: Part2: since the 1st part of your argument fails, you raised another 1 by saying you can’t asked prayers from the dead saints. thelittleflute however reminded you that there is no such thing as “dead saints” in the bible.

You missed Rev 5:8. BTW, where does the Bible limit us to spiritual practices listed therein? Unless that teaching (that all spiritual practices must come from the Bible) is in the Bible, it is self-refuting. Rather, I find us exhorted to "hold fast to the traditions you were taught, whether by word or by letter." (The Bible we know wouldn't exist for another 300 years.) Catholics hold on to no tradition not taught by the Apostles. And I am not a dude.

For a teaching by a pope to be recognized as infallible, the teaching must be a decision of the supreme teaching authority of the Church; it must concern a doctrine of faith or morals; it must bind the universal Church; and it must be proposed as something to be held firmly and immutably. Terminology of a definitive decree will usually make clear this condition, such as "By the authority of Our Lord Jesus Christ and of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, and by Our own Authority, we declare etc

I am not a "sola scriptura" believer, my friend. Be reminded what St. Paul said that "He has even enabled us to be ministers of a new covenant no longer depending on a written text but on the Spirit. The written text kills, but the Spirit gives life" (2 Cor 3:6).
