I grew up in the 50’s, and the 60’s as well. The cars of that era had style and class, designed by American engineers & designers. They were unique. Now days ya can’t tell a Cadillac from a Kia.

Disappeared 5 years later found it in ky , guy bought it for parts , wasn’t letting it go. Keep looking.

Thank You for showing this amazing rebuild. This was my first car in 1968, also here in Norway a lot of us wanted a car like this when the driving license was in the box. Cars these days have no personality, and no motor either, but a battery pack. Nothing special for a car enthusiast.👍With my best regards from Lillehammer, Norway the winter olympic city 1994.😊

In 1964, I bought a used 54 with a 239 for $40 and dropped in a 292 as the 239 had a burnt valve and I already had the 292. I was in HS and money was short, but I got a Holly 4bbl and Hurst shifter. In those days it was common to primmer them gray and call it good; no one could really afford a paint job. I cut the steering wheel in half for a better bed as I was often homeless. that will always be my favorite car and I even owned a new 69 SS396 Chevelle.

Another outstanding rebuild! Very well done! There are automotive rebuild/restore KZbin channels out there with millions of subscribers who don't have a 1/10th the talent you and your crew have! Considering the level of work you do you should have a lot more subscribers than you do! I had a 53 Customline the same color! It had the last year of the flathead V8. I kept the engine for a 34 Ford build and a friend has the car. He is doing a modern V8 like you did on this car. Anyhow great channel I do enjoy seeing the work you do!

I had a 53cuztomline in highschool. Bought it for 100 bucks and the engine was in pieces and the crank was shot. Took the crank out of a straight six mustang had it turned down and dad and I put the engine together and dad drove it 450 milesgo Seattle and broke it in. Ran real smooth and fast. I then converted it to 12v and it started a lot better. Moved away and dad sold it to a neighbor.i miss that car. I hope to find another one.

Had a '54 Customline Club Coupe (I preferred the long deck on the rear) turquoise w/ white roof, 239 Y-8, Fordomatic, PS, radio, heater, full wheelcovers, wide whitewalls (had it in 1963-1965), added duals, interior was exactly same as original on this, except looked new,, tinted glass, clock that still worked (not often correct) , had factory optional fender skirts (took them off) always liked the look without. Was kept waxed, looked near new. at 16 got stopped by CHP after 5 mile run, throttle floored, down 7% grade, gave me a lecture, was doing over 130 mph, didn't ticket for speed (said no one would believe it) DID equipment violation, for 4 bald tires, told me think hard about that and thank the Lord. I did, always had speed rated tires after that.

A very old woman who lived down the street from us, had a car just like this when I was a kid. Her husband had bought it for her brand new, and she'd only driven it to shop and to church. She died in the early 1990s, when SHE was in her early 90s. I was about 12 at that time. One of the neighbors bought the car from her daughter, and the last time I was in the neighborhood, (around 2 years ago) the car was still sitting in his driveway. What does it all mean? Nothing. I hated that car. Too bad it wasn't a 1957 Fairlane. If it were, I'd have bought it a long time ago. : )

Beautiful car, solid. I was a little confused when I saw the original engine components being painted (yellow parts), and refreshed clutch and brake pedals, but later see the car with a V8 and automatic. Also the hub caps being freshened up but not uised. I like the wheels it wound up with.

@@GarageAuto Shame about the sixer. That was a fairly recent engine at the time for Ford, and they were known to give flatheads a good run for the money. Ford tended to keep that quiet while they worked to bring out the Y-Block V8. This car would have been the first year with that engine if it had been so equipped. The car should be nicer to drive with the V8 and automatic though. Did you use a 302?
