A beautiful job of restoring that ole "Stove bolt" Chevrolet. It does my heart good to see those old 1950 automobiles. Just think, no COMPUTERS! Just get in, turn the key, and go! Boy, those were the days. Thanks guys for the wonderful memories of "yesteryear"!

Lots of memories for me. Had one in high school, graduated in 1970. We'd run it hard, put on an Offenhauser intake for two - one barrel carbs, a homemade split exhaust came with it, put a floor shifter in it, broke the main shaft on the tranny about 5 times, 3 axles, about a dozen wheel studs, and the drive shaft, then fix it up. The drive shaft was tough to fix, had to get the whole setup from the transmission on back. I was in the differential so many times I can do it blindfolded. Overhauled the engine be for the modifications. Because it was orange, we named it the Pumpkin. Then a drunk pulled out in front of me and I couldn't stop in time. Damaged it enough to total it. One of my favorite cars. Thanks for posting this.

This is...without a doubt...THE finest '54 Chevy on the planet!! You have rebuilt every single screw, bolt, nut, and bracket on the car, and if it were possible to park a brand new one next to her, and compare, your car would be far superior to anything G.M. produced. One of my uncle's bought a new '54 that impressed me when he returned from Korea. It seemed like it was rock solid, even closing the doors had a vault-like feel. Bought a rust-free (a big deal living in Detroit that used salt for snow removal) '54 210 4-door in '67 while stationed at Fort Carson Colorado for $200 at a Nash used car lot in Pueblo. Everything worked, the only thing I had done before my first trip home to Detroit was to have the head rebuilt. After that, I swear you could not hear it run unless the hood was open. What a great, reliable and trouble-free car. Great times & memories.

@@realtruth172 It seemed like all GM cars back then had more of a solid feel than the Ford & Mopar products. The Mopars had some odd pull door handles. The '55-'57 Chevys in the Midwest rusted in some of the oddest areas like the quarter panels known as the "golden rings". I knew some GM Fisher body engineers who worked on the sealing & bodies & said they were dumbfounded why they rusted prematurely in certain areas. But then, every car rusted badly from the salt laden roads especially in the Detroit area.

My dad, an air force pilot, had one of these that he drove to the base. When the winter temps got below freezing he would build a small fire under the transmission to warm it up in the morning. Sounds crazy, but true.

Beautiful beautiful excellent restoration like it's supposed to be. Thank you for keeping our American classic original I have yet to see any videos on KZbin or anywhere, this is the first in many years that kept a restoration original and didn't destroy the classic changing and putting and adding and taking things away from the car and destroying them. You're the first one to keep it original, in its original form, I've never seen that before excellent job, and again thanks for keeping our American classics original. Take care excellent work. I have a 1953 Chevy Bel Air horizon Blue the color. I believe 1954 has the horizon Blue as well which is that color there 👍🏼💯. Everybody out there who's going to restore a classic that's how you do it, take notes that's how you keep them original.

This was my first car. Bought new by my father at Brewers Chevrolet in Manhattan Kansas. Given to me in 1968. Exact same body style-two door, green with a white top, and with the six cylinder stovebolt 235. I butchered that car up pretty bad. The car came with a 2-speed Powerglide automatic which I abused and tore up twice. I switched over to the three speed on the column (later put a Hurst stick in it) and from hydraulic to solid valve lifters. I rebuilt the engine, oversize pistons and switched to a 12 volt system from a '55. Too much to talk about here. RIP.

I was 6 when my father bought his 1954 Bel Air. He often let me sit on his lap and steer as he worked the pedals. (I'm sure his hand was on the bottom of the wheel out of my sight.) His light turquoise seemed a little darker than your choice, the top was a two tone as yours is. His also had the front visor over the windshield which then required the prism device on the dash to see overhead signal lights. Thank you for the trip down memory lane. You did excellent work, be rightfully proud.

Great shape to begin with. My deceased grandmother (born 1901) bought this exact same 54 Belair Chevy pillarless coupe. (Auto trans-no power steering or brakes) same color scheme and color as your 54. I was only 8 years old when she traded it in for a new 61 Impala with power steering, trans and brakes because she was getting older, and it was hard for her steer it. I remember riding in the car and admiring it. It was always clean, shining and in the garage. Her 61 was also a coupe but was a much bigger car. white paint with light blue interior.

@@GarageAuto I'am 59 years old, have had several classics in my life, which none needed to be restored. I was 17 had a 66 nova ss w/ 6cyl auto in the floor, factory, It was a one owner car and I knew the owner all my life, but I put a 30 over 327 corvette motor with a mild cam in it. and a 350 turbo, it had a power glide. Later in life, had a 66 custom short bed chevy truck, then another 1966 chevy 2 door hard top very nice, no ss, , It had original paint. I had it in 1998. It had been garaged all it's life. The man I bought it from changed everything over w/383 stroker, 700R . It was factory buckets w/ auto console in the floor. I sold it at the corvette expo in Knoxville Tn. in about 15 minutes. I sold it for 15,500 was really worth more, I needed the money at the time. I also had a 1947 plymouth coupe. 6cyl 3 on the tree, black, baby moons, w/ white walls. With all that being said, I have been around full restos all my life, some of my close friends still do this, not for a living, but they are very good at what they do. It takes them a couple of years to do this, some times longer, but they have the facilities to do it and the experience and know how. I loved your video, best restoration video I have seen. I love the 54 or the 53 chevy Bel Air. I drove to Michigan to buy a 54 off of ebay once, 10 hour drive, pictures on ebay did not show what the real piece of junk it really was. To make a long story short, it was full of rust, did not buy it. I want to say that I also love a 3 inch chop and fringed lights on a 54, but I wouldn't never do it to an all original. I just want to say thanks for posting this video. Stacy from Clinton Tn

Exact same year/ Model and two tone color my Grandfather owned. I remember it so well. I was said when he got rid of it though. What memories. You did a fantastic job restoring it. I know it took a lot of time and elbow grease. Lot's of patience. It looks so nice.

My dad had one before I could drive. It was a cheaper version with less trim and three on the tree. You know, now that I'm sixty+ now these are more beautiful than the 55 to 57 models that I so loved in my youth.

Very good a friend of mine in Vintage Chevrolet Club of America in Washington state has one. Its a 2dr club coupe a 210 model. I have thought of buying it on several occasions. He is getting in his early 80's and hardly ever drives it since having it restored. It has several performance period correct to the era of the car that being slightly lower about 2 inches, dual exhaust, header and dual carbs, And of course Dodge Lancer wheel covers

Nice rust free car. I`m building a 54 210 but I have a Belaire parts car. I wish it was that solid. You in the UK here in the States when it snows we used alot of salt on the roads. Hat a 53 convertible in High School.

My Dad had a 1954 Bel Air, standard, which I learned to drive on at 13 in 1959! Truthfully, I always felt that the car was a bit 'clunky' looking, which Chevy dramatically improved with the classic '55 model!

You just completely built that 54 from ground up. The hood ornaments were pot metal. Never could get pits out of it. My also was a 4 door. Even the custom interior looks great.
