I hope you tried the long pipe flange nut (ET84), into the cylinder head before you formed up the pipe flare, they can be a very loose fit in the thread, you can easily get it back as a good fit by turning up a "bullet" and forcing it through the hole, this opens up the nut and restores the fit, but once the flare is formed, you cant get it off again to do this. Hey I need help removing the side covor for my bike. I have a 1981 Honda c70 just like you. I had a problem though, my head gasket went bad so I had to tear the motor apart. I'm haveing trouble with timing and I need to take the side covor off where the points are on the bike but it won't come off. Can you please respond to this and help me out. Thank you, just a kid trying to fix his bike.

Hi Thomas. Sorry, but I don't have the C70 anymore, so I can't go and take a look. It was a old neighbors that I was trying to get back on the road again. I can offer a few suggestions if you haven't already tried these. I'm trying to understand if the cover is simply stuck or if you're asking how to remove it. Normally, there should be screws/bolts holding it on. You workshop manual should have instructions on how to remove it. Or you could join one of the online forums if it is more complicated than that (for example, if you need to use special tools or heat to remove a stuck cover). I joined a Yahoo group (groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Honda-C70/info) for Hondas while I was working on the bikes and they were really helpful. Hope this helps a little, Mike

I'm working on my Vincent too Mike and have been following your progress. I stumbled on the idea of using heat shrink tubing to renew old cables cosmetically, provided they are otherwise in good condition, and posted a video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKCxh4yipdineMk Helps preserve originality and save time/money.

Hi Bill, great to hear from you again. I hope all is well. Thanks a lot for sharing this great idea. It looks really good. I enjoyed looking at the video and you have a very interesting project! Would love to see more of your bike if you get the chance to film a walk-by sometime. Cheers, Mike

Bike is far from ready for a video Mike - it's wearing Yamaha wheels while I finish the OEM hoops and that's enough to give purists the shivering willies. When it looks more like a real Vincent, I'll put up something up. Best to you. Bill
