EDIT: I use a little Loctite on some of the nuts and also use nyloc nuts on some bolts (e.g. for the fenders/mudguard fasteners). I also use a torque wrench on some of the nuts that require a special torque setting (for example the cylinder head notes).
In this video, I'm going to be checking that all the nuts & bolts are secure on the bike.
Just for a little fun(!), I color-coded all the nuts according to their respective sizes.
All are Whitworth, ranging from 1/8 of an inch to 3/4"
The approximate number of nuts checked was 170 and included the following counts according to the sticker colors:
Purple 1/8” x 2
Pink 3/16 x 50
Blue 1/4” x 50
Yellow 5/16” x 35
Orange 3/8 x 12
Green 7/16” x 20
Gold 3/4 x 2
Please note that this video did not include checking the Tommy bars and various screws on the bike.
This is how I approach some of these maintenance jobs so please remember to consult your owners manuals.
