It still is in my opinion the chair still looks awful epoxy or new wood combined with the old is the only thing that can save this not to mention that he didn’t use a wood planer or a lathe either so it’s still going to remain sucky

Maybe if this was the chair that Ivan the Terrible or Napoleon or somebody always sat on to warm himself by the hearth, maybe then I'd think it was worth the time and effort to restore. The techniques and materials employed were quite interesting, though. I'd never heard of paraloid wood hardener. LaserPecker is a new one to me also. That might be a good nickname for this guy that I know, assuming he has not been exaggerating.

I have had to sit on the same type of chair while in primary school some 40 years ago.. what I remember from it was the usage of the two pieces of planks to make the seat.. and then when the chair got old and wobbled, the piece of planks would pinch your thigh.. it was very painful.. so to use two pieces, one has to make sure the legs are sturdy and doesn't move at all.. ha ha.
