I'm watching because I left a collection of 80's vinyl in an unheated ventilated garage. Huge condensation issues in there during winter weather swings. I haven't checked them fo damage yet.....

If the sleeve is that bad, then the LP is most likely as bad, if not worse. I’d rather hunt down a clean copy. Thanks for taking the time to do this though.

This is not the way here in Brazil. The market of new records of this type was inflated, and this records are overpriced: the new and old pressing has obscene prices.

Hello @Luiz.acciari, welcome to Bredy Restorations! Thank you for your comment. The prices here in Brazil are really stratospheric, I have some albums that I paid very high prices for.

I just rescued an album from a friend’s barn. The vinyl plays great and is in great condition, however the cover is destroyed. So not always true.

Nice work Bredy Resto’s . Is there anyway of removing or partially removing the names in ink ? Cheers … Craig
@R3TR0R4V35 ай бұрын
I've had varying levels of success.. A combination of Eraser, and/or ipa Rubbing alcohol and/or Tergitol can lift the inks. Just be very careful and try a small spot first.

3:21 jump scare! 14:24 yes, they are [Sharon is] one of the harshest YT copyright enforcers. Great work. Have subbed and will check out more of your vids. Maybe on a future resto, try using an X-acto knife and straightedge rather than scissors, it gives you a cleaner edge but you have to have a good cutting board underneath and a sturdy cork-bottomed straightedge.

Interesting video. I did expect slightly more though. Have you considered using a tee-shirt transfer press machine to eliminate wrinkles? For Comic books they press with heat for 15 mins then leave it in the machine over night.

don't see why repainting old poor cover is better than to print new one on colored printer. The authencity has been already destroyed when you ve glued it on piece of paper and then added paints.
@arupdutta22022 ай бұрын
Sometimes if you are lucky, you can get a proper 12' x 12' print-out....most of the times, it does not happen if very few images are there on the net, and oftentimes, the print-outs are not sharp enough when you increase them to the required size. But getting a new print-out is a better option always, I agree.

Nice work, but seriously, you could have made a screen print of the cover and just pulled a new print for all the work you did. Not knocking you, just saying, a new print would be perfect and probably less work. Thanks, for sharing. All of your techniques can be applied but maybe not on such an extreme restore.

I would have done something different: I would have scanned the cover; removed wounds and stains with photoshop; printed the image, complete with flaps and with exact size, on thick paper; covered with semi-opaque transparent film; reconstructed a new cover. I would have kept the old original with the new one in the same plastic folder. I did it on a rare Chet Baker release with a very bad cover.
