I was in the British Army in the early 80s and remember being a little sad when I saw WW2 tanks being used as targets on a range. They were all old British tanks, even so I thought they deserved to be saved.

Many Veterans have seen that. I watched Centurions with time in Vietnam blown to peices. The problem is the red tape getting the Govt. To agree to release them.

Having rebuilt many variants of Maybachs including HL120s and HL230s , I think that the GMC motor is a good choice if you are to going to be running the vehicle on a regular basis with the minimum of maintenance compared to the high maintenance and short lifespans of the Maybachs. A great restoration guys!

Thanks for the kind words, their team did a fantastic job! Randy was smart to run a GMC. If it really came down to it with another buyer it wouldn't be impossible to get the Maybach back in.

Very interesting video on the very late Pz.Kpfw IV Ausf.H and again I'm impressed what a great you and your team did until now. I didn't realise how long it took seriously to search for the parts before you decided to assembly everything together. Personally I'm a bit sad that you had to install a GMC V12 but obviously you can't order on Ebay or whatever then of course it would be extremely expensive to buy. Very informative as well as I didn't know about certain aspects. Of course since it was the Ausf.H it was not powered any more but simply traversed by hand. Looking forward to see your incoming videos. Great 👍👍👍

Thanks for the kind words. Randy and his team did an amazing job. The reality of repowered and being a metal body, it is possible to some day get the real engine back in there. Randy has more projects under way, it will be some time until we get to cover them.

I believe that it was the Ausf. J version that had only a manual traverse turret, not the Ausf. H.

Great work the team is turning out. Do you find that the other armor restoration shops are willing to share information?

Thanks for the kind words. It really does depend on the individual culture of each museum. Us being restoration experts as well Randy was more then happy to work with us. We have visited other museums that are not so kind.

This is the installment I was waiting for. It gave me a whole new understanding of what is actually involved in armour restoration. I wonder, though: if 'ironing' the hull sections out was so laborious, why not fabricate them? Can civilians not order new armor plate? Would plain steel not have the necessary structural properties?
@MilitaryArmamentsCompany2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the kind words and supporting the channel. You can buy steel plate of Armour thickness. Unknown if or how civilians can buy armour in raw form. Collections such as Randy's aim to keep as much of the original product as possible, this maintains value and authenticity.

I really do like the Panzer IV the shape is classic. Along with Panzer III it set the bench mark for others to aspire. Being easier to build and upgradable, it lasted the entire war. More were built than any other design. Not perfect but good enough. Had the Germans increased production of them earlier and not diverted resources to other models. Who knows how much more successful the Reich and Barbarossa would have been? Taking the caucus oil fields would have solved many of the logistic problems the Germans faced. Giving the war in the east a different ending.
