Thanks for your tip about dealing with thge duplicate UUID issue. Note, in your command prompt window why do you use gray foreground against black background? The contrast is extremely poor and it's very hard to read. Why not use white on black or, better, Black text on white background (such as being used in this comment)? You can change the colors in your PuTTY screen by clicking on the upper left icon in the title bar > Change Settings > Window > Colours > Use system colours = checked. Much easier to read. Using a larger font would also help.

it seems all the configs are stored in the snapshot and volume is the storage for the ec2 ? If i got a upper version ec2, can I attach snapshot to the newly created ec2 , so i will get all configuration straight away ? please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks

The snapshot contains the data in the EBS volume, not the metadata of the EC2 instance.
