My Dad had one of these when I was a kid. Amazing to see one restored and driven!

So cool. I’m trying to buy one. It has great patina.

My Dad bought one of these new. Engine caught fire on the way home! 🔥 Seriously! 0 to 60 mph time? It was an automatic, so with four passengers on board and if you floored it shortly after breakfast you’d usually get up to speed sometime before noon.

This is true. I have one with the automatic transmission and when 4 of us are in the car it is a slow ride.

My brother had a 71 auto he bought new, I took my driving test on it, the guy that gave me the driving test weighed 400 lbs, he was not happy getting in to the car. Car would never start on rainy, damp weather, Lucas ignition system was pretty bad! Once you dried the ignition with a towel things improved. My brother eventually traded it in for a Datsun B-210, the Austin had less than 30k miles on it, he was using the Austin commute 10 miles to work but obviously wasn't reliable in wet weather...Austin was way cool, especially compared to the B-210...

Tick tick tick tick.

Is the manual transmission original, or a conversion from automatic?
